Over two books in and reading further was just continuing to diminish the great memories of a childhood read. Had to stop. A disappointing revisit.

A nice conclusion.
Liked:
1. The story. The story in this book might've been the best of the trilogy, but that isn't saying much. It was pretty enjoyable, I liked how it was split up, making for an interesting perspective from several characters.
2. The finale. The finale was easy, the best part of this book. Tanis having to make several quick decisions shows a trait of his character that wasn't really spoken about, which was his cunning and having to think on the spot. And the reverse Rogue One-style ending was quite nice.
3. Killing some more characters. Why are you killing the characters that I think are always going to survive? First Sturm and now Flint? Whose next, Tas? Laurana? Tanis?
Disliked:
1. Tika and Caramon. Where did this come from? She talks about how strong their attraction and tension is, and I'm sitting here like, bitch, you two have interacted two times in three books. And suddenly you want to marry this man, instalove if I've ever seen it.
2. Fizban's memory loss. This was probably the most unnecessary plot. Fizban doesn't remember anything for whatever reason. Sounds like me, yesterday I forgot the word for watering can and the word for roof. It doesn't even get fully resolved.
3. Raistlin. Raistlin's my favorite character in this series. And he is barely in this book. I understand that his sickness is slowly killing him and he needs to rest, but give us some incite into his visions or just develop his relationship with some of the other characters more.

3.5 stars. This was a solid conclusion to the trilogy. I really enjoyed the lore, and the richness of the story, though there was so much going on with characters and backstories that there was quite a lot of loose ends left open.

There was certainly enough conclusion here to wrap up the series, but I don't feel as if it was as SATISFYING as it could have been. In that, I was disappointed-when the ending isn't so much of a triumph as it is a plain old win.

I recommend this book to those who have read the previous books in the series, or those who are looking for a pretty rich fantasy read. While I do believe there is better fantasy out there, this is still a solid entry in the field.
