I had mixed feelings about this book…I still remain fascinated by this world and these characters and I will definitely be finishing the series. But this book unfortunately felt very much like a filler book.
Let’s start with the things I like:
- world/magic is expanded further
- the assassin is actually an assassin and yet I love her
- any scene with Corayne and Andry
- our band of characters spend a lot of time together in this book
- the multiple POV chapters
- Erida is probably the best female villain I’ve read in a while, and her relationship with Taristan brings such depth to both characters (you know it’s good when the villains have you doubting who you’re rooting for)
- the ending *shakes hand at cliffhangers*
Things I didn’t like
- the plot was. so. slow. it feels like nothing happens in this 500-plus-page book
- a few of the side characters, like Charlie and Sigil, don’t really get much attention and feel as if they’re there more to move the plot forward (which is bad when the plot doesn’t actually appear to be moving)
- the repetition
- did I mention that parts felt very boring?
Anyways, mixed feelings. I’m looking forward to the third book though—my optimism is telling me it’ll be the best one of the series *fingers crossed*

Not a major review but VICTORIA HOW DARE YOU!! But also bravo because you did it again. Realm Breaker and Blade Breaker both just ending with major cliffhangers that leave me utterly gutted and I absolutely love it!

I have been waiting for this sequel to come out since last year, and I was a little disappointed that I did not love this more.
"Blade Breaker" is the sequel to "Realm Breaker" and it follows Corayne, a young woman who has recently acquired her father's powerful sword and is trying to utilize it to save the realm. There is an evil queen who wants to the sword and all of the power Corayne seems to possess, and this queen will stop at nothing to get what she wants. Corayne is forced to assemble her own army to fight the queen, but she soon discovers there is an even bigger, much darker threat to the realm than a power-hungry queen.
I do not know if I read this book perhaps too quickly, or if it was written in a slower way, but it took me a long time to get into the story, and even once I was interested, I never got fully invested. This book is clearly filed with action, adventure, and high stakes, but I was not connected with the story enough to be disheartened by Corayne's struggles. I think overall the book is written well, and it will find its target market.

I love this serie. It is just insane. I love how Aveyard writes. The diversity is very nice. It doesn't feel forced or anything, it is just there. I did shed a tear for the end. I hope the third book will be set right after like this book with the first one. The only reason why I didn't give it a 5 stars it's because, at some point toward the middle, it started to get longer with nothing happening really. Other than that, I really enjoyed it. The characters are freaking adorable. I love all of them.
also, Aveyard is killing me this slow, slooow burn love... I just want them to be all together soon, help .
