Suffers the common self-help ailment of padding. I'm sure some people enjoy anecdotes about famous or not famous people and how they implemented habits, but I'm not a fan.

Also dislike that most of the anecdotes are about men. The one about the Judit Polgar stuck in my memory because it was one of the few women featured. (Also featured were Twyla Tharp and a physician named Anne Thorndike. I also could have missed one.) See, this is why I'm not reading as many dudes anymore. I'm sure Clear is a great guy. He comes across as sincere and friendly. But he has the guy blinders on and he doesn't even realize it. So much of self-help is like this, too.

Before I move on, I will add that it was off-putting to see anecdotes about creeps like Scott Adams and Jerry Seinfeld. Makes the author seem tone deaf.

The strategies Clear outlines are legit and science-backed. He makes them overly complicated, though, using weird terms like "inversion," as one example. I bet that if you looked at his blog posts, they would be simpler and...clearer.

A great book to understand the system behind good habit creation and bad habit elimination.

This book has some great tips on how to better form goals that you want to achieve. The content is there while also not overwhelmingly dry. I did not ever feel bored while reading this. If you do not take any of the tips from this book, you will at least leave it feeling inspired to better form the goals in your life.
