I came under the assumption that this story would be about weed but stayed for the drama of university professors.

[audiobook] BOTY; I can't begin to understand how this is as affecting as it is, so I won't try. A book of nothing, from which, miraculously, masterfully, comes absolutely everything, and feels somehow like a holy text

I’ve witnessed an entire life and it hurts
challenging dark medium-paced

Beautiful, heartbreaking, thoroughly humanistic and nihilistic. Written in 1965 but reads as a modern novel.

This book is known as being the best novel you have never heard about... how true that is!  This book focuses on the life of William Stoner and you accompany him through the trials and tribulations from youth through the rest of his life.  The range of feelings you can feel for a thoroughly ordinary man, delving into his emotional state is what makes Williams' writing so brilliant. His simple and direct English, devoid of flowery description and elegant vocabulary transmits Stoner's story in direct and impactful manner.  I think every reader can identify with some aspect of Stoner's life.

Reading this book, I was constantly reminded by East of Eden by John Steinbeck and one of my favourite books of all time.  Stoner really should be elevated on par with other greats of United States of the mid-20th century, e.g., Hemingway and Steinbeck.
dark informative inspiring reflective tense medium-paced

Definitely started slow, but the buildup is insane. This is drama at its finest.
The commotion in Chapter X is giving me a heart attack. It's like i'm watching a debate in the courtroom and im at the frontrow. And that love affair? The right love at the wrong time.
I have been curious about this book because some of the book influencers i follow listed this as one of their favorite books, and now i know why. You'll get dark academia, romance, politics, war, and drama.
There are some instances in the book i feel like the fool surrounded by intelligent people. Just the vibes i get in thia books. And i so love it.
