This book was fantastic. Some very eerie and creepy moments throughout. I normally am not interested in possession stories but this one was enthralling. The author keeps the story moving at a fast pace throughout the story. I felt like the author gave a believable reason why the family wouldn’t just run screaming at the first supernatural event.
I found the husband interesting but also a bit of a dick. A line that really sticks out was about it being his wife’s fault she got pregnant. What? It takes two for that. Almost like that is the reason he didn’t get his doctorate. Instead of it being that he didn’t have the drive to make it happen.
The wife and daughter are fantastic. I enjoyed the depth that the author built with both of these characters.

This one was a struggle. I wanted to read it so bad because honestly, it sounded intriguing and I liked the cover art. I rated this so low because it couldn’t get into it. It took me two months to read it because I refused to DNF this one.
The story was pretty anticlimactic and not suspenseful. Some of the imagery was nice, and the callbacks to The Exorcist were cool. I just wish there had been more depth to the characters and more suspense.

‼️This 1000% gripped me from the beginning…from the first page your just thrown into it! It is a chilling, fast-paced horror novel that has an eerie atmosphere and suspense is for sure there. The supernatural/malevolent elements are especially well done, making for some genuinely terrifying moments.
Buying an old house that belong to an exorcist who mysteriously died in it, may not be the best plan for a quiet family life.
Seriously, that was creepy. I really liked what was done in this book. First, the prologue immediately set the tone. I like when no time is wasted, jumping right into action, I was instantly hooked. Then came the doubt, that slowly leave place to the paranoia and constant fear, that created an oppressing and scary atmosphere. I loved this.
To be honest, I wasn’t sure about the characters. I didn’t like them much at first, and I am still not sure if I do. Expect the dog, he was the best. But not really liking them definitely added even more gloominess to this already somber and creepy story for me. So not a bad point. And I can’t help but wonder, if everything was simply bad luck, or maybe consequences of their actions. Who knows.
This book was a wild ride from start to finish. Full of action and battles against demons, it was terrifying. This ending was excellent, and probably my favorite part of the book.

I went into this expecting to like it, but I ended up absolutely loving everything about this book! This was such a good listen from the story to the narrator. The pacing was almost perfect, and the build-up and tension were so well done. The characters were all likeable, though Buck was clearly the best of the whole book. My hat is off to the author because this is one of the few horror books that actually made me feel uncomfortable (in the good way). While I was not terrified, there were some terrifying things in this book. The ending was absolute perfection, and I could have lived with that being it for the story. However, I am very eager to read book two. I definitely recommend!
