Engrossing & compelling fun read. The prologue was the best part. The characters for the most part were very one note & lacked depth. Every scene they acted brand new like there was little retention. So a lot of what they did was dumb. I didn’t like the Hill’s family at all. Daniel is not as smart or receptive as he thinks considering he is a therapist. If there was a sane, rational explanation for why he destroyed the wards around the well, I would’ve been more invested in him & the story. Nora was one sad cliché- overplaying her part in a quickie with her boss. Alice was surprisingly not an annoying teenager. Merle & Luke were the most likeable. I enjoyed the backstory & their parts immensely. I was rooting for the dog, Buck, to be honest. If anything were to happen to him, I would’ve DNFed. I enjoyed the gore & the descriptions of the demon. It was horrifying but I wasn’t scared. The ending was satisfying. I almost thought it was going to be wrapped up in one nice, neat little bow. It left room for more & I look forward to more books from this author.

I don't really know how to feel about this one, it was really weird. Definitely spooky, but kind of in a lol way. It was definitely creepy and gory, and the ghost/apparition thing was strange. The characters were all pretty unmemorable and didn't really feel any particular way about them.

This was a solid read for something that’s not my usual type of horror. I’m not sure why but traditional exorcism stories don’t do it for me. I’m talking the kind with a possessed person on a bed with a priest in a room, and there’s chapters and chapters of them screaming Latin and bible verses building to the inevitable demon casting out.

For about 3/4 of the book it was not your typical exorcism story. I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what was going to happen… then enter the priest and it becomes your average exorcism ending.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s twists and some things that will surprise your average horror reader, but I could see those coming and that made the ending fall flat for me.

Still had a good time. Totally worth checking out for a quick burst of religious horror.
