Weakest amongst S.J. Watson's. Storyline is really slow. The attempt to misdirect readers is somewhat distressed and going in circles. Sadly it was a dragging 400 pages of a not so suspenseful thriller.✌ ⭐⭐☆☆☆

Gerade mal bei 3% und schon total angenervt vom Schreibstil. Und von der Protagonistin auch.

This one definitely threw me off a bit, which kept me engaged throughout. The subject matter was quite dark (CW: rape, suicide, SA, substance use) but I think realistically portrayed. 4 ⭐️ and would definitely recommend!

Thank you to Netgalley and HarperCollins Publishers for this free ARC.
If you like your thrillers to have a twisty ending, then this book is for you. It did drag in a few spots and had a few to many names to keep track of at one time. Besides that, it kept you guessing on what was really going on in the small town.

3⭐=Average Read.
Audio.
Well, I won't say that I wasn't confused for the majority of the book, I was-especially towards the end.
I can see that this was a really clever concept but the storyline just dragged on too much for my liking.
Maybe I would been better reading this as a physical book. I could then have kept going a few pages to fill in the gaps and remind myself who was who.
Hope this doesn't come across as too negative, as I wasn't reluctant to ever listen to it.

I am sad to report that I struggled with this book. Which kind of surprised me as again I will point out that I loved this author's first book. The second one was kind of a miss for me as well. Yet, this was an improvement from the second one; despite my feelings towards this book.
In the beginning, I was into this book. I was following along nicely. One of the things that made it hard for me with this book was the very slow pacing. It felt like not much was happening. When something did transpire, it was not too "big". Just some little nibbles to keep the reader strung along. Which, I would not have had a problem with if in turn I was connected to the characters. This was my other issue with this book. No real connection towards the characters. So you could say this book didn't do it for me this time.

A little bit too over dramatic and convoluted but overall a decent psychological thriller.
