Why did this make me cry at work on the preschool desk? This book was adorable. Especially as someone who's a horror fanatic, a post-emo kid, and a wannabe goth, this hit home. All about it.

For: fans of spooky things; readers wanting a book about learning to be yourself.

Possible red flags: scary imagery and mentions of "red stains on the walls" of the vampire's house.

I loved this picture book about a cute little pink house that is not like her family. Her dad is a creepy old mansion filled with vampires and her mom is a witch's house with snakes hanging in the rafters, so she doesn't understand why she is pink and pretty instead of a dreary haunted house. She longs to have a ghost in her house, but things don't go as she expects them to. In the end, though, she's finally content with her pink little pretty house.

HILARIOUS! I loved this book. I loved that it was an "ordinary" character dreaming to be unordinary while still learning to love herself.

Right up my spooky toddler's alley! She 100% agreed with Clarissa - when choosing between a cute pink cottage and a swampy witch's hut, is there even really a choice? Definitely a keeper for us!
