For real, I thought Joe will kill Sarah Beth or  S. B. as soon as he had the chance because she became the "villain" in his life at some point. Oh, no, he killed a bunch of people in this book which was always problematic. Wonder, my girl, you seemed naive, but you had a fight within you that I liked even though her family was rude to Joe. I read this series because of Joe's POV of the world. He was funny inside his head, savage to a point, but super chill when he expressed himself with words. Glenn and Sly Shody was annoying from the beginning so, no comment. I hated when she changed Wonder and Joe's books without their knowledge. I must also say that S. B. made the whole mix more interesting especially her "secret" interactions with Joe. She's a villain because she had no morals or whatever. It was so wrong when Joe broke into her dead shed and it made me chuckle that she had "security" stuff. I liked that she had trust issues so, she was prepared. Joe squirmed in his seat because she knew everything felt like karmic destiny. She had no morals and even killed her ex-boyfriend. Oh, the fellows from Harvard had no bones! They just follow the leader when it came to saying anything about a book.

Well, I devoured this even more because Santino Fontana narrated the audiobook companion. His narration is the chef's kiss as usual. Thank you, Caroline, for this interesting book. Hoping for more🔥

It breaks my heart to give this book less than 4 stars. But, that's where we are. My constructive criticism of the last book stands. I want her to write these for herself, not for the show. And it feels like a George R.R. Martin thing right now. The show has gotten ahead of the books. And the show just might be better.

While this book was fun, it took over half the book for it to get interesting. Joe's games are getting old now. It's getting quite repetitive.

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC!

I ended up liking this a lot more than the third YOU book, which was mostly depressing. This had more fun Joe impulse murders, and an exciting setting for Joe to talk literature and fall in “love.”
This reminded me a little more of The Love Affairs of Nathaniel P - it had some really good opportunities for Joe to express how he saw things and the reader to see how far off base he was.
A couple of things felt too convenient, especially <s>one character’s seemingly random confession TO Joe, and Joe’s confession to just the right person. </s>
It was also fun to read this while watching the series, since the show Joe and the book Joe have diverged so dramatically; I thought a lot about what his essential characteristics are in both and where the characters differ. I wonder where Kepnes will take this version of Joe next.
