“IT IS BETTER TO DIE WITH A SWORD IN YOUR HAND THAN TO KNEEL WITH A CHAIN AROUND YOUR NECK.”
How?! How did it get better?!
I never feel like this but I wish that there was a six-star rating that I could give. Of Darkness And Light took one of the best Fantasy novels I’ve ever read and IMPROVED on it, in every way???
Ryan Cahill has struck a goldmine with this series. The Bound and The Broken is the very best of what this genre has to offer. From dragons, to magic, to monsters and their traitor god, to super-powered holy knights, to brutal combat, to believable relationships and quality slower paced moments… it just goes on and on and on.
And how is it fair for a single series to have not one, not two, but THREE (and now possibly more?!) super sick groups of magical or super-powered or whatever you want to call it warriors? Usually, you would think that a series would get one such group - if you have dragon riders, then you get dragons riders and maybe a villainous version in opposition. Think the Jedi and the Sith. But here? Noooooo. We’re spoiled. Mr. Cahill is spoiling us.
This has dethroned one of my top-three favorite reads ever and taken its place at number three. If this series continues to improve in the next installment, to the degree this one did on book one? I genuinely think I’m going to have to say that I officially have a new favorite novel.
MOREEEE.
P.S. I TOTALLY CALLED THE ARDEN TWIST, BY THE WAY.

It just didn't hook me. I never really cared about any of the characters. It IS an improvement over Of Blood and Fire though, but because it's longer and didn't quite improve enough to capture me.
