With the fourth book coming at the end of the month, I decided to pick this series back up. I read Of Blood And Fire as well as The Fall back in October of last year. And I forgot how much I really enjoyed this world Ryan has built. Of Darkness And Light was an epic sequel to this series and it has done nothing but get me even more hyped to continue with this series. This has everything I love about fantasy and I look forward to immediately continuing The Bound and The Broken.

Wie erwartet ein extremer Fortschritt im Vergleich zu Band 1. Es war etwas heftig, wie viele verschiedene Handlungen auf einmal da waren und noch dazugekommen sind. Zugegeben, für die Hälfte habe ich mich erst gegen Ende wirklich interessiert, aber das ist wohl zu erwarten. Es ist das perfekte Beispiel dafür, dass man das Rad nicht neu erfinden muss, wenn man alte Ideen super interessant

- Calen und Ella sind beste Handlungen, die gerne das ganze Buch hätten sein können
- So viele Länder und Städte werden eingeführt, dass die Welt riesig wird
- Handlung wird immer wieder umgeworfen, sodass man nie weiß, wo es hingeht

- Struktur von Kapiteln und Handlungen ist ziemlich durcheinander und lenkt ab

An improvement on the first book.
It's a weird book to review because I do feel like Cahill is still a bit clunky as a writer but the book IS enjoyable.
The dialogue is definitely one of the weakest points here, while the worldbuilding is surprisingly deep and seemingly well thought-out. Character work is an aspect which I don't think is good or bad yet.

So overall I do think Cahill has created an interesting world with interesting ideas, which sometimes I personally feel could be better written and brought to the page. But he's a young writer, and can still improve a lot so I'm hoping for that.
