I was a little disappointed by this book. It was really hyped up as the classic enemies to lovers trope but new and fresh. I love tropes, I’ve got nothing against a trope that’s written well but this… nope
I did really like their dynamic in the beginning although it was a little childish, I kinda liked the pettiness. I thought it was funny to read about the little mind games they would play with each other.
My main issues:
1. The author keeps going on and on about hour Lucy is tiny and Josh is huge (I GET IT OKAY)
2. Lucy keeps objectifying Josh (great you think he’s hot but you don’t need to act as if he’s just his body)
3. The ending??? Wtf is this? Just lol I actually quit so we aren’t competing against each other anymore? Oh and i was secretly in love with you the whole time (honestly I knew this was coming but it was still disappointing) It feels really lazy. I feel like an epilogue was definitely needed - how does the visit with her parents go, does she even get the promotion??
4. WHATS WRONG WITH NICE GUYS? i don’t understand why the author has to bash on nice guys (and being a jerk isn’t cool either I’m sorry)
5. Also as a tall gal I don’t understand why every single romcom book acts as if tall girls have it all while the mc is always short (and cute and adorable but she doesn’t know it)
