I received an eARC of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This is a light paranormal rom-com with plenty of steam from the enemies-to-lovers tension of Reggie and Ben. The magical rules (based on the Roman gods) are unique and described well; as far as systems of magic go, one based on the lead tablets ancient Romans left behind is an innovative concept. Some of the characters (mostly Dru, honestly) annoyed me, and their actions bordered on cruel. (For reference, Reggie works as a human familiar whose energy is literally sucked out of her when her magical partner casts a spell, and Dru really pushes her.) Nonetheless, it doesn't detract too much from Reggie and Ben's relationship and trust, and the culmination of the story is amusing.
