Impeccably delicious writing. The stream of consciousness was a bit difficult to follow at first but gradually drew me in.

This was an interesting read for many reasons.
I loved Normal People and CWS. She really has an incredible way of making her characters feel tangible and real even when they can be unlikable and at times ridiculous. But god her writing style is so frustrating sometimes. I just couldn’t follow Peter’s perspective a lot of the time.
This one was a struggle at times. I hated Peter and his perspective. His character was very true to life though, reminded me a lot of my own alcoholism. I loved Ivan because that dude is autistic but then hated him bc I guess he was lowkey incel core? Margaret was by far my fave. Enjoyed her perspective being included. The ending was not great though. Didn’t really wrap anything up for me.

I tried to read again one of Sally Rooney's novels but now I've just accepted that her writing is not for me. Actually, not to be mean, but, in my humble, personal and honest opinion, I don't think that her writing is good, like in general.
This horrifying creation was like a dictionary, like bad poetry wanting to be a novel, like when you learn a bunch of new words and you just want to use them in phrases, this book was like pouring the milk BEFORE THE CEREAL.
I'm actually very frustrated after having read this book because half the time I didn't understand where it was headed and in the end, I still don't know. Reading this book felt like punching my head in a wall, like I'm a toddler and things are explained to me, like all of the characters saying the most obvious things and calling them "conversations".
This book was completely and utterly useless, I didn't earn anything by reading it, besides a new-born hatred for the author. Honestly I can't wait for the world to move past the hype we somehow have developed as a society for this woman. Who wrote a book about men's opinions and thoughts, literally 437 pages of men whining, except when it was about Margaret or Sylvia who honestly were so one-dimensional that I couldn't even separate one from the other.
I said before that I didn't earn anything but probably that was a lie since I learned that 1) I will never ever be caught reading Sally Rooney ever again as long as I'm alive and 2) I will forever and always try to prevent people from reading her books.
And don't get me started on how she writes the dialogues between the characters. Just don't.
