I liked it enough to give it 3 stars, but I did catch myself thinking of The Chaperone occasionally and how much better it was. Maybe my expectations were too high, but it is a forgettable novel.

Man, this one really struck a chord on those heartstrings. If you've ever had someone you'd do anything for, someone you try to save as much as you feel they save you, someone you lose yourself in, then this book will pluck that same tune with you. It follows the journey of Anna, devoted psychiatric nurse to Zelda Fitzgerald, as she tries to care for and heal her patient and friend, as well as herself. This is a fresh take on the Fitzgerald's respective tragedies through the lens of an intriguing and unique character. I'd absolutely recommend it.

I want to give this book five stars because of all the things it did so well, but the second half of the book was just....bad. It felt rushed and underdeveloped, which was such a disappointment as the first half was so well-done and enjoyable!

Being a fan of F. Scott Fitzgerald and his wife Zelda, I was excited to read this novel. However, I was disappointed. The novel was mildly entertaining in a few parts but Zelda was just a supporting character to her nurse, Anna. If you want to know more about the lives of Zelda and Scott, I suggest a different book.
