I hated the beginning. WHY bring up Cam’s little tryst in the woods? I think it was just to throw in a red herring. I think Sands wanted us to think Millie was the jealous spurned lover. But that didn’t endear me to Cam. I just have to pretend that scene didn’t happen.
I’m a big Saidh fan! She’s strong, tough, can rough house with the boys, but she still is sweet and has a big heart.
Normally I’m pretty sure about who the villain is, but this one actually took me by surprise! So that was nice.

Another fun entry into this series.
I liked Saidh and how she treated everyone. Even liked the fact that she wanted to check up on Fenella, even if she admitted that she was frustrated/annoyed with her. Loved the way she was with her brothers and how she told them off and didn't worry about things like them hurting her (even if it was a slightly unbalanced/unfair situation since they'd clearly been taught to not hurt her).
Greer was great too. I liked that he got into a "my wife" stage pretty quickly. Like even before they went too far, he was kind of all over her and then when he knew what they were going to do, he took steps. Granted, I feel like he should have at least suggested things to Saidh first but at least he didn't stop because of it. I liked the way he handled things with Bowie as well; sad as it is, he would have been well within his rights to either send Bowie packing or go to the priest. I did kind of laugh when Bowie was talking about leaving and Greer was just "why would you do that?"
Like the last book, it felt like the mystery/"someone's trying to Saidh" came up randomly and almost too late. The revelation on the reasons was a little out there too. [I mean, what did Aunt Tilda think would happen since she'd killed Allen? It's not like she could have married the Laird, even if she got Greer out of the way. And even if she did, she was sterile/barren so kids were out. So her whole "my bloodline will continue" schtick was a non-starter. Even if her thing had changed to "someone needs to run things the way I want, it was just a weird situation. Yes, she did say she didn't feel Saidh was an appropriate Lady but she also didn't bother to give things a shot. She didn't even try to see if she could nudge people down the way she wanted, just jumped right to "you must die!". Yes, this could also be attributed to the fact that she'd snapped but I feel like there should have been some kind of indicator that that was the path we were looking at. Aside from the jumping because to me that screams someone lucid enough to know they'd fucked up and weren't going to escape. (hide spoiler)]

I want to like historical romance, REALLY I do. Sometimes you just want something fluffy and fun, you know? Someone recommended I might like Sands because she has a vampire series and a Scottish series and I was open to either and saw this on Edelweiss and was like "sure I'll give it a try" but it was boring and not that sexy. I did enjoy Sarah Maclean so it isn't impossible for me to like a romance, but this wasn't for me.
