Another fun and crazy book from Lynsay Sands. I kept having to renew my library book because I didn’t have time to fit this book into my reading. I’ve been looking for audiobooks since I’ve only recently gotten into listening to books and was happy to find my online library had this one and I was very impressed with the narrator.
I’m glad these next few books are following the women the previous heroine befriended in To Marry a Scottish Laird. This is Saidh’s story. She grew up with 7 brothers (and yes I dearly hope for them all to get their stories too, but maybe not by kidnapping 7 brides) so she is not usually looked on as being a “proper” lady. It seems that’s one of the things Greer likes about her best. Greer never thought he’d be Laird McDonald, but his cousin died unexpectedly and he’s now in charge.
Greer and Saidh are fantastic together. They complement each other well and seem to understand each other on a level others don’t. Their chemistry is undeniable and Greer doesn’t take that lightly. His actions before bedding Saidh as well as incidents that happened before Saidh got to the castle bring together a wonderful cast of characters that had me guessing who may have killed the previous laird, if he was murdered, and who was trying to hurt Saidh. I changed my mind many times throughout. If you’ve read the previous stories, this story has plenty of concussions and near misses. (If you haven’t read the others, I believe this can be read as a standalone.)
While this story has some instances of homophobia, it also has some great dialogue supporting the LGBTQ+ community. There is also wonderful support for the MFC to be true to herself and not tie herself in knots to fit in a specific box.
Again, I had tons of fun with this book. Even yelling out WTF at one point and being glad I was home alone and not on my daily walk when the shocking part happened.
