the good: fun quick read. interesting bits of southern jewish history. some poignant moments of processing grief. the bad: the constant confusing pov shifts. the wild-ass third act conflict. the way nia treats jade even though she’s supposedly a therapist.

this was a super sweet romance book -- another grief roadtrip romance, i think i've read all three that exist lmao. not as good as here we go again because it has a special place in my heart, but i liked it more than p.s. i love you because it's gay (obviously) and the characters were better written. very fast read, a little messy, and learned about southern jewish history along the way.

This slowburn really annoyed me. I didn't like the characters and I did not like this book at all. I just thought it took to long to get to the plot or the point. The narrators also didn't keep me interested.
I really wanted to like this and I tried pushing myself to finish it but as a sapphic woman with a twin brother I could never forgive someone who claimed to be in love with me for sleeping with my brother. It was all I could think about once it was revealed. It was also a very unnecessary thing to do. Ugh I was really excited for the book but that made it unreadable . I actually thought it after posting my first review and got angrier about it. The author made the bi character into the worst stereotype. Like she wronged Jade in so many ways but, for some reason, Nia was in the right. Jade did absolutely nothing wrong but apparently she just had to be the one to apologize. It's so disappointing that the author chose to go the route she did because there were so many other things she could have had as the major conflict but she chose one of the worst things. I wish I could have gone to the author before she published this and begged her to change the conflict. I know it would have been a great story without the unnecessary, gross part.
