And now I've run out of Rivers of London audio books to listen to.

I deeply adore Kobna Holdbrook-Smith's narration.

Except maybe the foxes.

The newest Rivers of London novel continues to be an exciting urban fantasy mystery. I still am in love with the characters, though I do wish some of the side characters received more spotlight. Aaronovitch continues to introduce more interesting characters, but the ensemble cast is getting a little difficult to juggle. I found myself looking up online just who this randomly dropped name was from time to time.

I also found the central mystery a little lacking. However, I get the feeling that this was a transitional novel that is setting up the narrative arc for future novels. Still, it is an enjoyable book and I look forward to where the series goes from here.

I can always count on this series via audio to get me out of a book slump or cure me from a book hangover. Not because these are the best books ever. Or that I would recommend them to everyone. It would be like my mom telling me to find joy in CSI. The point Iā€™m trying to make is if you like magic systems, this is a weird but wonderful series for your ears. I find the characters /world building is easy to love and fun to imagine. So happy to read (British?) Hollywood picked up this series. I will be happy to re-consume these plots in another format.
