You can find a full review of all of the Afterverse books here.

I always like it when there are spinoffs of book series! I'm trying to figure out what the timeline is lol. Anyway, all-round good fun!

This was slightly creepy, and some parts weren't really my cup of tea, but the storytelling was amazing and I love me some dragons.

This was a not a deep novel, but it was a fun, quick read. A lot of good brain candy in this book. I liked the magic system and the introduction of original monsters and new takes on inhuman creatures. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

Not *quite* as good as what I was hoping for, but still enjoyed.

Fantasy Western. I suppose I should have guessed that people have done it, but I hadn't...and it works! Horseman is set in a world where myths and folklore aren't just stories, but very much real. Without giving too much away, you'll see versions of characters like Rip Van Winkle, as well as descendants of Davy Crockett and Ichabod Crane, plus monsters and other surprises along the way.

I honestly wasn't sure what I was going to get when I picked up this book. What I ended up with was many laugh-out-loud moments, heart-racing action scenes, and characters I desperately want to learn more about. Book two, here I come!

Such a great introduction to a new portion of the world of mixed-up, magical fairy tales and local lore. This time, the great-grandchildren of Davy Crockett and Ichabod Crane meet together and are introduced to the Crane family menace. I loved the characters, the gentle banter, and the hints and bits that have snuck in from other stories, both past and future. Rip, was that you? :)

WHO'S READY TO HAVE A GOOD TIME READING A BOOK?!

Magic and myths and sometimes-centaurs and dragons and banter and sasquatches and mystery and found family and werewolves and danger. And MORE. (Mooooooorrree??!)

I think my fave thing about this play on the legend of Sleepy Hollow is how it's clever and funny and sometimes random and outlandish--but it never feels silly or lessens the stakes. You FOR REAL feel for and with the characters, which makes the reading all the more fun.

I'll be honest; initially I thought, "Eh, I don't think ima be thrilled about Amy and Todd. This is gonna be one of those couples that just kinda snipes back and forth at each other and eventually calls that love." But I was wrong. These two MCs really make each other BETTER, and their friendship develops like they're HUMAN BEINGS and goes goes DEEP, and I LOVE THEM. (Also, I almost never "cast" book characters in my head, but Amy was immediately played by a young Rashida Jones, and I am RIGHT ABOUT THIS.)

Bonus: The longer I look at the cover, the funnier it is to me.

Check this one out if you like myths or legends or fairy tales or humor or adventure or people or creative things.

One of the best books ever. Just sayin'. Gosh dang.
-- The writing style was AMAZING. It really set the tone and the POV was always well done and hilarious. But it gave great descriptions so things were soo realistic.
-- The story and plot were E-P-I-C. I love the universe and the history and the magic, how it was all handled... it was insane. The story also didn't get confusing, remaining well paced but always clear.
-- The characters were fantastic. Each of them. Except for the bad guys -- also done well -- they can go lick the dust. My favorite character was probably... well, Todd Crane, because we have nothing in common but man, was he relatable nonetheless... and Amy, Meg, and Julio were just awesome and realistic.
Overall, I loved this book. I was laughing (till tears came, y'all) more than once... I CANNOT wait till the next book! And I'm promptly inspired to go try and draw a centaur. Let's hope my drawing skills are better than Todd's.

Funny. Excellent cat character and fun dragons and magic ... sometimes the jokes go a little longer than they need to. Like the same gag stretches on for a few paragraphs past when it was funny ... though someone with less SQUIRREL tendencies probably wouldn't feel that way.

I loved it so much! This book was full of twists and turns, American folklore, wild adventures, very real and creepy danger, and very very clever storytelling. I think this is one of Shultz' best works and is instantly one of my favorites from him. There is plenty to enjoy in the first half, but the second half is just brilliant and stunning! As usual, Shultz is a very trustworthy guide, even through the darker chapters of the story and the sun shines even brighter at the end. Plus that twist at the end is just WUT?! And I can't believe I was just sitting here happily in the Afterverse and I DIDN'T KNOW! Loved Rip Van Winkle. Loved the tie-ins to The Last Days of Lady Cordelia and Wolf at the Door. ALL the Afterverse references!! Plus subtle, cheeky references to "Up" and "The Emperor's New Groove" (and probably more that I didn't catch). Overall, a masterfully woven story!
