Excellent for Kindergarten. Pair with WHICH ONES WILL GROW.

Cute.

Great artwork due to the fun cutouts and creative use of the peek-a-boo pages. Kindergarten students love discovering that this is a circular story. The chicken or the egg? The egg or the chicken? Either way, the book brings a smile.

Read in 2008.

Simple and gorgeous.

One of my favorites. Worked well in toddler storytime today (4/20/11)

Loved this book with first, then sequences and cut outs. Only problem: the caterpillar, chrysalis, and butterfly are all different species. But I loved the rest so much I gave it 5 stars anyway.

A simple story with colorful simplistic artwork. Still no answer to which came first the chicken or the egg. Kids won't notice that part...
informative lighthearted relaxing medium-paced

Seeger is proving herself to be a top name as a picture book author/illustrator. A beautiful, well-crafted book.

Various critters transform from infants to adults, which is all recorded through stories and illustration (which began as words and paint).

A great focus on transformations! Share one-on-one or through storytime.
