I decided to reread this and I finished it all in three days and I was excited and scared and loved it just as much as I did when I first read it years ago. One of my favorite YA series, definitely.

I knew from the start that your loyalty would get you killed. I just never thought it would be your loyalty to me that would do it.

I'm going to be very quick with this review because I remember literally nothing from this book series except that the main character has a disabled sister, the angels are some kind of disgusting winged creatures (to whom kindness is an unknown concept) and that the love interest (who was horrible) will be some kind of angel-bat when they change his wings (wtf?) the middle book completely fell out of my memory lol and at the end I remember that they flew down to hell and were brought back from there by those angels (WHO HAD CHILDREN?) and that's it. Bad plot, bad characters, bad exception.

PS: Only the mother who insults the corpses gets a little credit, I could stand her.

Wow, one of my new absolutely favorite series I've ever read. I love it so much. The storyline is great and all the characters are amazing and I love Ee's writing style. Penryn is such a good character and it's really easy to connect with her and cheer her on. All of the characters, even the bad guys, are really well-written and I love them all. Well, no. I love the way they're written, so you can understand their point of view and their reasons for doing what they do. It's not anywhere close to an excuse, but it gives you better insight to their goals/desires, which is really cool because many books make the bad guys out to seem like purely evil, when things are never that black and white.

This really is a great series and also kind of different from most YA books because the romance (basically every YA book has romance so if you couldn't guess it has romance based on the genre and description, sorry) is there but it's not very present. It doesn't have as big of an impact on the characters' actions as other books. Like, some series have the romance overtake the entire thing and everything the characters do is like based off their love interest, but not this series. It's something I admire because it's very different (in a good way) than most books, which makes it even more of an interesting series to read. I know there are some series that try to not include so much romance, but sometimes the romance seems very nonexistent and feel too forced (aka Arc of a Scythe. Not saying anything against it, just saying the romance wasn't that good).

Character redemptions are also always (probably not always since there are exceptions to every rule, but whatever) the best because you really learn to understand the character and see their point of view. It only works for bad guys who actually have a reason for being bad guys and not just overall jerks. This series did have a character redemption which made me want to cry because I felt bad for judging the character so badly, even though Penryn does it too.

Overall, what a great series. Definitely one of my all time favorites. I read it in four days and am super disappointed that there isn't more, but also not because it ended well and series that just stretch on and on unnecessarily get to be soooo bad and like, seriously, you don't have to keep doing it for the money. Let the fans write their fanfics and draw their fanart and love it forever instead of slowly disliking it because of all the new, worse content. That got off topic whoops. But basically, summary of this review: Penryn and the End of Days is a great series and people should totally read it because basically everything in this series is great and the fandom needs to be bigger.
