Loved this book, wouldn't mind reading it again.

This is a great book about India, written by an Australian woman, she talks about her experiences with different Indian religions

Recommend this book to everyone!

Read while In India. Fun memoir

This book lost steam halfway through. Macdonald gets bogged down in exploring the intricacies of all the different religions in India and lost my attention. I thought she adopted a rather superior tone towards Americans, which was annoying, though possibly understandable given the 9/11 time frame of this book. Overall, there were lots of funny and moving bits, and Macdonald presented an engaging side of India that almost made me want to visit - and that's saying a lot, considering how misanthropic I can be :)

A friend gave this to me because she experienced almost everything in this book while she visited India herself. It was an interesting read, but not the best book ever.

Read this while living in India and loved it. We still laugh at 13 kinds of mutton :-)

I just finished reading this... I mean not reading this ;) for my book club. I just couldn't get through it, come to think of it I don't think anyone in my book club said they finished it.

I was interested in the book during the first chapter when she was telling her feelings and experiences of being in India but soon the author went into a political and religious tirade and spent way too much time internalizing what it all meant. One chapter started to blend into another for me and I ended up feeling that I couldn't care less about what happened to her.

With a baby due in less than two months my reading time is seeming more and more precious on a daily basis. I just don't have time to waste it on reading a book I could care less about.

I would not recommend this book.
