Surprisingly good. I thought it was going to be a throwaway fluff piece but it was really insightful

i was actually stuck between giving this book 3 stars or 1 star, but decided on giving it 2.

i don’t wanna say it’s terrible just because the characters are toxic themselves, i want to give the author credit for giving megan and tom a pretty satisfying ending despite everything they’ve been through.

but personally, i almost DNF this because cheating does not make a main character likable, but i still wanted to see how the story ended.

it’s not a terrible book by any means, i liked the personal growth both megan and tom went through in this book. but it would’ve been an easier read if megan hadn’t been a cheater. the fact that tom’s people-pleasing tendencies were somehow portrayed to be on the same level as megan’s infidelity was just unfair and made the reading experience extremely frustrating. in reality, tom’s overbearing family is reason enough to cause a wedge in their relationship.

second chance romances require a lot of nuance and care to write. the author has to convince readers that BOTH characters are good people with good intentions; that they were just separated by circumstances or poor choices.

cheating leaves a bad taste in everyone’s mouths because there is no good excuse to be unfaithful to someone. if you’re unhappy in your current relationship, you either communicate with your partner to fix it or leave. that’s the mature thing to do. that’s what makes megan’s happy ending feel unearned and that’s why romance authors need to stop using cheating as a trope in their writing.

Hmm time loop tropes can get really annoying because you’re reading through the same day over and over again, waiting to see the small tweaks. Thought this was okay!

The couple calls off their wedding the day before the wedding but end up going into a time loop and repeating that same day over and over again. Secrets & lies get revealed as they try to figure out how to get back into the present
