Wasn't fond of the Strawberry storyline, but the rest was interesting.

meh... what I originally liked about this series was the creepy house, which was hardly in this arc at all. Also the side stories weren't as badass as the last few volumes. Sorry, even Bill Willingham couldn't save this series for me. lame.

This volume had a lovely Halloween special to start with but was all down hill from there. Honestly worth reading just for that issue and the anthology story "Spellbound" in issue 20.

Found the Strawberry storyline to be a bit flat but certainly intriguing. Hopefully they follow up on it in later volumes. The anthology stories were all hits for me, art and story were both solid throughout.

Loved the final issue, a great fun Sandman reunion story. Loved seeing my absolute favorite librarian, Lucien himself.

Ok, things are starting to make sense. I'm starting to get a better understanding of the characters and all the factions. The mini stories didn't seem as distracting in this one. In fact, Jordan's Gorilla Story is my favorite so far!

Kinda weird with a few different characters, although I do seem to really like Cain and Abel. Also, I was shocked to see Jordan's hidden character trait

The story progressed in odd and interesting ways, with people dropping all over the place. But the bulk of this volume was the interludes, which were ok, but not great.

It was good to see more of Cain, though, and I wonder what will become of Fig & Harry, since I imagine there will be more to it.

The Halloween story at the end with the glimpses into other series was amusing. Always nice to pass a nod to Constantine as things go by.

I loved, loved, loved this entry of the series. After the last volume's sort of lackluster everything, this was a burst of much needed awesomeness.

I should say, though, that I can see why others might be a bit less enthused. Once again, the main story is sort of parsed out in drips and drabs throughout the book. Things and people are coming together in interesting ways, but I also found myself confused at much of what was going on because, frankly, I'd forgotten most of what happened in the last book (since lackluster = boring = forgettable).

But what really makes this installment are the stories within the story - which is, really, what sold me on this series in the first place, as I also loved them in the first volume as well, though I feel they've mostly suffered between then and now.

But, once again, I found myself captivated by those other stories, sometimes funny, sometimes disturbing.

The other thing I loved is something that I think you might have to be a Sandman fan to truly appreciate - crossover!

Cain has been a part of the story from the beginning, but now he's more involved in the day-to-dayness of it. And, with Cain is Abel. And Goldie! And then in comes Lucien, with a pen-sword, and Eve. It was like a reunion from beyond the Gates of Horn and Ivory. (For any authors reading, the Corinthian would be a most interesting cameo for the denizens of the House. *grins*)

Anyway - really enjoyed this entry, even if it did only move the overall arc of the story ahead ever so slightly (though some of the narration was poignant and gripping - which was another thing I liked from the beginning which I felt was a bit lacking of late).

I suppose we'll see what comes in the future. Whenever I get myself psyched up for a series the next installment almost always disappoints - so I'll try not to expect too much.

This was a thin book, both in terms of size and development. It didn't help that I didn't remember much from the last installment, so I felt like I was playing catch-up. I do look forward to being able to go back and read the series through, once it's completed.

In the past I never minded the vignettes. I felt they added character and personality to a sort of standard story. And some of them were rather lush, in either fantasy or horror.

This installment didn't have much horror, which is ok, but I also felt, for the first time, that the side stories were more filler - detracting from the story instead of adding to it. True, we still do get little snippets of character information through them, but I felt very removed from the characters, as a whole, in this collection.

Also, the revelations weren't that revealing. Are we meant to be surprised by the unmasking at the end? I was more surprised about the truth about Harry, but only barely.

The art is still good, for the most part, and I will definitely continue with the series, but this arc seemed kind of ho-hum. The revelations were needlessly drawn out for no pay-off, and the filler stories were mostly meh.
