The BFG is darker than I remember. The plot is unbelievable, but there's no doubt that children will love this story just as much as I did when I first read it. Sophie and The BFG are lovable characters.

Roald Dahl's children's books are imaginative, witty, whimsical and humorous.

I read The BFG to the kids a chapter a night.

One night, at the witching hour, a giant kidnapped Sophie and brought her to the Giant Country, where 9 else human beans eater giants lived...

I like how the author portrayed the BFG. I didn't see him as a giant but rather like a grandad, lol. And what a language he said! Though I couldn't get some, the rest are funny. Love his pun!

While reading this, I'm wondering. It seems that English love their Queen. And their Queen loves them as well, ready to lend a hand in any situation. So, even though the part with the Queen was a bit exaggerated, it seems natural at the other hand and acceptable.

My first English novel as I learnt the language. Took me forever searching the dictionary for some of the made up words! Definitely learnt aince not to recommend this book to EFL learners too early. Lol

DID NOT FINISH: 42%

I was reading this to my son and he found it scary.  He didn’t like the writing style and to be honest, nor did I.

For the most part this was an enjoyable children's book which features friendship, danger and a good dollop of the fantastical.

However, as I'm revisiting this story as a 20-year-old it became painfully apparent that I was not the correct audience for this story. This something that had not yet been a problems for me before when rereading Dahl's classics.

To me the first half of this book was very slow and dull compared to the latter half. I also absolutely adored the ending and had completely forgot about the twist!
