This is my first read of Roald Dahl so I was quite excited to have gotten my hands on this audiobook. I had heard of this book even before the recent movie came out this year. Still with the release it helped me narrow down my choosing "The BFG" from all other books that Mr. Dahl wrote.

It makes sense why Mr. Dahl has a cult following among librarians and people of all ages. His writing was quite delightful and I quickly started to like Sophie and The Big Friendly Giant; especially The BKG since I too suffer from saying the wrong words but knowing what I am thinking and trying to say. It was quite a surprise to find that an author from so long ago wrote about this issue I have and made it a quality for one of their main characters. I am definitely a fan of Mr. Dahl and can't wait to read more from him.

Also, I have fallen in love with Dan Walliams's voice! I couldn't imagine a more perfect narrator for this story. Hopefully he will narrate other stories.

This is the first book I remember reading with my mom. It was way beyond my grade level and took us a while to get through, but the pride I felt when we finished will always give it a special place on my bookshelf.

My mom, a 3rd grade teacher, read this every year to her class when they earned reading minutes.  As I navigate my first mother's day without her, I saw this book when scrolling available audiobooks.  I knew there was no way I could not read it.  The 3rd grader in me loved rereading this book and made me feel just a tiny bit closer to my momma while missing her so much more.
