Still makes me cry like it did in middle school. Forever my favorite manga.
EDIT: 4 stars!!!! how could I not love it more after watching the first season of the anime and LOVING it?? "there's no room for an onigiri in a fruits basket..."

I feel like if I were in middle school and not an adult, I would enjoy this more. Maybe I'm too nitpicky. Maybe it actually is questionable. It's better than Ouran's questionableness. This did come out early 2000, so maybe that's why animes like these don't age well.
I do love the Chinese zodiac aspect, though. I think my favorite is Yuki or Kyo? Or the other guy. Had a hard time learning all the characters' names, but maybe because I've never touched this material.

I liked this more than I expected. I was anticipating the fluff factor, but I was quite charmed by the surprising amount of depth. (And now I understand the title!)

this was my first manga and i really liked it! it was hard for me to get used to the format of reading it “backwards” but it got easier as i kept reading. it was also so hard for me to keep the names straight, so maybe another manga would be easier for the first one? i’m not sure but the story is really good, i’ll definitely be grabbing the next one of the series!
Esta obra es hermosa, me encanta este principio. Aunque creo que está muy rápido, pero creo que eso fue porque me lo leí en 2 horas, pero creo que la escena (todavía no sé si está más adelante) dod e le dice a Kyo que tiene muchas cualidades pero no las ve porque están en sus espalda y lo compara con un onigiri que tiene adentro una ciruela hace que la despedida duela más, pero creo que siempre al leer un manga se me hace muy rápido todo porque no proceso bien las imágenes y leo rápido todo, además acabo de acabar el anime pues ya tengo todo grabado en mi cabeza lo que va a pasar y entonces paso rápido los paneles y no los disfruto tanto ya que lo comparo varias veces con el anime o deduzco lo que paso en la imágen por las escenas de anime.

There is a surprising amount of depth to this series. I'd recommend for all ages.
Both the translation and the general pacing of this one felt a little off
