This book was such a treat, I was sobbing with joy by the end. The book starts off with "teens doing dumb teen things" and continues on that trend for some time, all while Vanni and Leigh's relationship blossoms. There are some really tough scenes to get through, but in the end they emerge such changed people and it's so heartwarming to see. I did NOT think this book was going to hit me so hard.

I started this because I liked The Mystery of Hollow Places a lot. I knew it was YA going in, but it is just too teenagery and angsty.

I picked up this book because I'd heard some good things about it, but it really wasn't for me. Aside from feeling like hardly anything happened, my main issue was that I found the characters - especially the main character - to be rather unlikable, and I didn't feel connected to them.
