- Ainsley and Peter have been married for awhile. They have 3 kids, and they are successful in their careers.
- However, their marriage has hit a rough patch. They've tried various methods to improve their relationship, but nothing seems to work.
- As a last resort, they agree to an open marriage.
- What could possibly go wrong?!đđ
- This is only 200 page book, so itâs a quick read.
- Frankly, this is a popcorn thriller. I read it in a single sitting, and it was an easy read.
- You have to suspend a lot of disbelief in this one. The two main characters are also extremely unlikeable.
- No real character development in this one. Ending was mehhh. There are lots of plot holes. The writing is okay, but not great.
- My biggest gripe about this one is the writer committed the cardinal sin of lying to readers about characters while telling the story from their POV. Ainsley & Peter tell the story in present day perspectives. In other words, the characters tell the readers their thoughts and interactions, as they are occurring. It isn't a "twist" or âbig reveal" to represent a characterâs thoughts and experiences as one way, then do a 180 in the last couple pages?? We are reading their active, present thoughts, so with that in mind, a lot of the book makes no sense. I always think this is such a cheap writing tactic when authors go this route.

i started off thinking this couple were just idiots (they are, but the cunning kind!) and i wonder if I'd been paying attention harder if i would've seen the twists coming...but i didn't and i was shocked.

what in the actual hell did I just read ? When I pick up a book written by Kiersten Modglin, I know for sure its going to be messed up and amazing in all the right ways, BUT THIS ONE!!! It is definitely at the top of my list for sure- hooked from the very first chapter- I read it all in one sitting.
This book is told in alternating POVs between married couple Ainsley and Peter. When they realized their marriage was falling apart, they made an arrangement- they could both go out with other people, sleep with them or whatever they wanted, both agreeing to not ask questions. However, one horrible thing happens that just unlocks a closet full of things to keep happening. they must rely on each other to fix the mess they've created.
This book is INSANE. It goes from being a book about fixing a marriage to a twisty turny thriller that literally had me on edge of my seat. It was almost like Ainsley and Peter were competing to see who could reveal the darkest secrets first. They were an insane couple that despite all the skeletons in the closet, work their crazies very well together. The whole book flew by BUT THE SECOND HALF!!!! It literally was one thing after another that left me speechless until the last word !! Shock after shock after shock!! Thank god she wrote a sequel... the amendment.. lets see what crazy charades these two are up to next...

I did like the back and forth of narration. I was confused a lot of the time why the characters made certain decisions but oh did the ending explain it all.

I had a feeling something was weird when he went on the first date and was so comfortable to go back to Malloryâs place. It was very strange that you were led to believe he was shy and timid but he went into this open relationship concept so easily.
