So so good!

There were twists and turns, up until the very last page. So good, so well written. Each time I thought I knew what was going on, I was shocked again.

Okay so I did love this, it was a quick read, but I feel like it had potential to be even better.

I'm not a fan of unreliable narrators. Sometimes it can be alright, but this chick straight up GASLIT me. Like, why is she literally lying to me? She literally said
Spoilershe had no idea how the cop knew her name
, but then later in the book she tells us
Spoilershe told him her real name during their date.

I'm fine with omitting some facts for the mystery aspect, but girly pop...

ok I kind of went on a roller coaster ride when deciding if I liked this book or not. this is not a book I would have picked to read on my own, I read it with my book club. I don’t love to read books about married couples having marital problems because I simply cannot relate to it as a single woman. but i’m willing to suffer through for the club. ((bc in the clerb we all fam))

anyways I didn’t think I liked the book at all at first. too many middle aged people problems. then the intrigue started halfway through when a few more reveals happened. I started becoming extremely invested. because BOTH of these characters are extremely unreliable narrators. they reveal shit that you had no fucking idea about even though you’ve read from their POV, essentially been inside their head.

I think in the end that’s what my problem was with the book. it was like there was no end to the twists and reveals. a few of them were fun. I really liked the initial reveal of what was ACTUALLY going on between peter and *BLANK* (iykyk). but everything after that just kept getting more and more far fetched to the point where at the very end I couldn’t even take the story seriously anymore.

I think I would’ve enjoyed this more if everything had been in the POV of the wife and the intrigue had been from her finding out that very last secret. I don’t know. I was just so flabbergasted from everything. it was always BUT WAIT! there’s more!!!! and it was too much.

I know there’s more books in this series but I have absolutely zero desire to read more.

This was whiplash in a book! I did not see all those twists and turns coming. Shocking for a 200 page book! This was a quick, enjoyable read.

It’s not that this book was bad… just too many random turns that didn’t really make sense.

This book was seriously weird, and I know I shouldn’t like it but I absolutely loved it. Absolute bonkers story, but brilliant. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
