Although I didn't read all the stories in collection, the many I did finish were terrific! Am still so upset that my book was lost in the mail in the move!

There's a reason Fitzgerald is considered one of the greatest American authors of all time. He had an incredible gift for creating beautiful prose, and his short stories demonstrate this. That said, sometimes the plots of the stories feel a bit redundant, especially toward the middle of this collection. Read with an eye toward the language Fitzgerald uses, rather than just for plot, and you won't be disappointed.

Não li todos os contos, somente os que nos foram pedidos por nosso professor durante o mestrado. Mas gostei muito de alguns, outros nem tanto.

I read three short stories in the bath tonight. They came from this book but were actually in a small gift sized book which came with the weekend newspaper a while back.

I'm not really a fan of short stories. I don't like that you don't get to engage with the characters. But, these stories did work and were all very good. My favourite was possibly The Cut Glass Bowl.

Loved being able to just read a story during lunch. My favorite was "Head and Shoulders".

I listened to these on tape while working at a factory and wearing a hairnet.

Not sure it’s the same collection, mine had 45 stories in it. I enjoyed the writing especially the earlier stories, the Basil stories bored me, although the first one (the scandal detectives) was good. Mostly relationship stories in middle and upper classes so the characters were kinda dull after a while. Also the number of men obsessed with 16 and 17 yo girls is kinda disconcerting too!
