I read this author's "Exciting Times" and while I didn't love it, I could see the potential, and I couldn't wait to see what she did next. As I had hoped this was significantly better. It's very much a character and environment study that toys with the thought that no one person can know you fully; their perception of you is colored by the environment, their own idiosyncrasies, relationship histories, and the many other components of the human web. It does this really well in such a small number of pages. Not fast-paced by any means, but I didn't want to put it down.

They, in fact, weren’t a happy couple
Don’t have any strong feelings about this book. Luke is awful and I can’t believe the relationship even lasted as long as it did 😭
Would recommend to anyone who likes character focused books, messy relationships, and shifting POVs with a few time jumps

I’d like to believe that they parted ways and learned from this experience but maybe I’m a pessimist cause in my heart of hearts I feel quite certain neither of them will change. Celine will stay focused on her music but I hope she finds someone who embraces that and loves her well. Idk about Luke but buddy needs therapy.
i really enjoyed the first third of this book. I like the author's writing style, and i thought celine was well-drawn. But the further we got into the novel, the more it wore one me. The same snarky humor for each character? is there a narrator, or not? is everyone this self-aware in the moment? Luke's introspection and analysis rang particularly false, and i found myself easily annoyed with him. the general platitudes/"lessons learned" near the end were eye-roll worthy. not for me!

Sooooo good! Currently in a big Irish lit era and this was such a fun read!
Great little novel about a couple approaching their wedding day told from multiple perspectives. Oh, and it’s also very funny.
