First grader and I finished this one up tonight before bedtime. Of the treehouse books it was easily one of our favorites. I particularly enjoyed talking with him about it afterwards because the Dickens story highlighted generosity in helping those in poverty.

This one's cute but not the best unless you're reading this around Christmas time. Not much of a plot and what was there was something you have heard a thousand times.

The Christmas spirit is summoning me....

4.5. It has been 3 years since I started rereading this book because of the holidays, It became my tradition to summon the Christmas spirit, I'm always thankful that I got this book from my mom when I was 8 and only when I was 12 did I understood the story truly.

I picked this title up for my collection of Christmas books as The Magic Treehouse books are always so popular with the students I work with and I had yet to read one. This book follows the familiar Magic Treehouse formula of the main characters traveling to a place (and time) adding a little made up adventure with a little history. This time Annie and Jack traveled to London to help Charles Dickens in a way that helps inspire him to write A Christmas Carol. It was a quick read, cute, and I liked how it is a good mix of history and fiction.
