Well that ending was devastating.
6 stars, no notes but Cassandra Clare does not pull any punches. So much happened in this book!

This book was incredibly well crafted, especially with so many characters. I love Emma and Julian, as always. Like the first book, Julian essentially being a father to his younger siblings is incredibly well done. He’ll sacrifice anything for them.

I loved getting to know Kit, Ty, Livvy, Drew, and Diana better in this one. I loved seeing more autistic representation and Kit’s understanding of Ty’s autism and sensory issues. The development of Mark, Christina, and Kieran’s relationship is interesting too.

The number of adventures, journeys, characters, and curses in this is impressive.
We have two trips to faerie, the Hunt and the riders, the London institute, Kieran and his father and brothers, Annabelle, the pixies, two shadowmarkets, the Jaime visit/ subplot, the blight, and the warlock sickness.

I could go on and on. I’m torn between letting this book settle and immediately starting into the last book in this trilogy.

All my theories after reading Lady Midnight were wrong. And I find myself a little let down.
This book ended on a cliffhanger and I am interested in seeing what happens, but I am not crazy about this storyline… not like I have been with her other books.
