This book wasn't perfect; descriptions felt rushed or inaccurate at times. But I still couldn't put the damn thing down.

This was an impressive amount of world building. International conflicts, interdimensional realms, interpersonal history and a magic system all in 400-ish pages.

And still it was entertaining and the MC was gritty AF in a way that I found mostly believable or explainable.

Very excited to try the next book in this series.

TW: for Cleithrophobia or claustrophobia
CW: gore, violent death

The first half of the story was really kind of boring. The writing was good, the characters awesome and for the most part I was somewhat emotionally involved. The magic was interesting even though we didn’t really get a whole lot. The last half of the story really had me invested and I loved the history/lore of the world.

Edrin Walker might seem like a good guy but is he really a GOOD good guy???????
