A romance with suspense thrown in, as the end does get really suspenseful.
Olivia has been in love with her friend Daniel for a while. But nothing has happened. But the spark is there, I can see it as I read and they so belong together. She is a nice girl, he is a nice boy. they should be.
But Daniel is dating her room mate. Noooo. And she was such a cow, I grew to loathe her as the book progressed. Trust me, you will also feel the same. Arghhh, what a cow!
So these two have a long way to go. He is with someone else, she thinks all is lost.
Now where does the suspense come in? Oh there is a stalker, a creepy creeping stalker. And who is it? What does the stalker want? What will happen? You will see.

Talk to Me was a quick read that kept me laughing, on edge wanting to know more and then pleased with the final outcome. I loved Olivia’s character; strong, confident, but a bit of a people-pleaser and quite uncomfortable with confrontation. It was fun to watch her grow into her own and finally stand up for herself. There were a few situations that I felt so awful for her, but I realized that the way she reacted to some of those things were unfortunately realistic for many individuals. This novel had a balanced recipe of the good things in life and the crazy people and situations that you can run into along the way.
One of the main concepts in this novel is the importance of trust and honesty in friendships and relationships. It never fails to amaze me that some people can actually be so cruel to individuals that are supposed to be their close friends. I would never want to let people like Emily [Olivia’s ‘best friend’] into my life, because she’s one of the worst types of human beings you could be unfortunate enough to come across. It’s bad enough that women have to deal with mean girls that aren’t their friends, but to come across someone that pretends to be your best friend but has their own private agenda that doesn’t include you? No thank you! I’m a big believer in Karma, and I was rooting for Emily to get what she deserved when everything was said and done.
Against her better judgement, Olivia gets suckered into trying her cousin’s speed dating service and Emily goes with her. Emily, the girl that has the sweetest and sexiest boyfriend Daniel [the guy that Olivia has a mad thing for but never had the courage to admit it to anyone but Olivia], is going on a speed dating session… and making “platonic” plans to meet with one of the men she met for drinks. You can only tell so many lies before it all comes crashing to the surface, but not only does Emily lie about her own whereabouts, she also makes up a huge lie that Olivia is dating a married man.
The most irritating part of the lie is that Olivia was cheated on by someone important in her life years ago and is very against infidelity. How could Daniel know her and not have talked to her about it, even if Emily made him promise to pretend he didn’t know? How did that not seem fishy to him? And what a lie, to say that Olivia is dating a married man, that’s the last thing on earth she’d do! Needless to say, I loved Olivia’s character and wanted to slap her ‘friend’ Emily throughout the entire novel.
Talk to Me was ultimately a story about love, lies and learning who to trust in your life. The novel also had an interesting suspenseful and creepy twist in the mix to add to the drama. It was a fun, romantic, and suspenseful comedy, and I would recommend it to anyone that loves to read chick-lit with a twist!
