Extremely dissapointing. It crashed my shipping heart (Alex/Lena), it ruined Lena for me, characters that I actually liked from book 1 didn't ever appear (Alex,Grace,Hanna), Blue the one character that I actually enjoyed reading about died and with 50 kind of climax scenes but not really. Instead all we got was a book filled with exposition (find a better way to tell your story L. Oliver), whiny ass wannabe a rebel Lena, pretentious rich kid Alex and fucking annoying Crow. For some reason, it kept me hooked though...when I had the time to read (Midterms....ugh). Long story short, I won't be bothered continuing the series. After Before I fall, which was the first book I ever read from Lauren Oliver, I had such high expectations and was even pumped to read A WHOLE TRILOGY. Such an overhyped, one of the same, but really worse dystopian YA book.

Loved the way it was set up. The ending, though. Oh man.

It was a nice continuation for me a tad bit slow at the start but later it picks up pace Julian and Lena i definitely ship them together and OMG the end was really a twist.

didn't really care for the then and now parts. couldn't really figure out why she was into Julian? he (and most of the characters) seemed to not have a personality

With a semi-new set of characters, and another thrilling adventure Pandemonium is a surprising yet marvelous sequel to Delirium.

Pandemonium starts off right where we left off in Delirium, but told by duel POVs from Lena. There is "then" which is Lena's journey about a year ago after she escaped into the Wild and how different and difficult her new life is. And then there is "Now"...which happens to be a new adventure for Lena who is now under a fake name in the city of New York. Lena, unfortunately becomes captive with Julian who is a public figure for the DFA, an important movement against the Deliria. Things don't look so good for either them, but Lena is a fighter, and she won't lose everything she's fought for again.

I have to admit, I didn't think I was going to enjoy this one as much as I did. When I started reading and realized that Alex was missing, my heart kind of sunk. I love Alex so, so much. But, the more I read... the more I started to become completely lost in Lena's new journey and all the new characters we are introduced to. This new Lena is stronger, more aware of what she needs to be. She fights for what she believes in... and she's already lost too much, so she will not lose what means a lot to her again.

With the new characters, I was surprised how much I grew attached to them. Lets start with Raven... honestly I thought she was a huge witch with a B at first. There were a few times where I wanted to slap her for Lena, but in the end Raven redeemed herself in my eyes and I grew to like her. The other side to Raven, so to speak, is Tack. And found myself loving Tack as soon as I met him. I'm not sure why. There's something about the dark, bad attitude, with a kind heart that just gets to you. And I'm excited to read more about him! There's also one "twist" shall I say having to do with a character and I'm dying to see if we see her in book 3.

Then there's Julian. He's supposed to be this strong, sexy, public leader so to say...but honestly, he's this handsome boy with blonde hair and blue eyes, a kind heart and completely shy to world around him. Like I said before, I love Alex and I still do. But, you can't help but learn to love Julian too. Watching him come into this new world of Invalids and seeing how kind and lost he is just shatters you.

Lena is thrown into a whole new scene in Pandemonium but she learns to adjust. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the new story and characters BUT, it's not all rainbows and butterflies and I highly missed some of the old characters. The world Lauren Oliver created is a dark one. One where the people are controlled and harmed if need be. But, I think that's what makes me love it so much.. the broken world. And when you finally learn to love this new life for Lena, the ending is a bombshell. It completely crashes what you've just read. And now, I am DYING for the third book. I'm sure it will be all kinds of angst and I'm excited to read it!

I was disappointed in delirium, but this sequel was a lot better. It had more action and suspense than delrium.
The beginning was a little confusing, with the "now" and "then", but it ended up well in the end. Although, some parts were really predictable.
Anyways the ending was great.

Probably more like 3 1/2 stars, but I enjoyed it and look forward to the final installment.

Even though I’ve had this book for months, I only just got to reading it now, and that’s because Lili asked me to read it for the YA trivia scavenger hunt. I as a little late finishing it which was most unfortunate because it was a super quick read. I was able to fall into the world that Oliver created almost seamlessly. I will admit that I was a little thrown because of the flip flop in time, but I was still eager to dive into the story.

As I said, there was this flip flop between the Now Lena who was a part of the resistance who was working hard to stop the “DFA” and the Old Lena who had just escaped Portland. I was a little confused, but once I realized what was happening, it was a really great way to keep the story moving. Rather than go in chronological order, we could see where she wound up and a little bit of how she got there. There were parts that didn’t need to be gone over because there was this nearly two months time span that went from when she escaped to when the camp started to move.

I liked that it was a throwback to how the Native American’s and other cultures had to live during the winters and how they had to migrate to keep warmth and to keep finding food and to survive. I loved that Raven pushed Lena to be the best that she could be and to not be a big baby about leaving Portland. I was somewhat irritated by Lena at the start of the book. Although it was tragic for her to have lost Alex, I was somewhat annoyed by how she just lamented over him rather than take advantage of the life that he gave her.

I was also annoyed by the Instalove. And yes, there was instalove, not the worst case that I have seen by far, but Lena has this whole Stockholm syndrome with Julian after they are taken captive together. I will also admit that we don’t know how long they are together, but they start using the L word, (And I’m being generous) by week 3. For someone who was grieving over Alex for months, the fact that she got over him so fast was incredible. I would say she was more lonely than she was in love. Even when she tried to fight her feelings for Julian by thinking about Alex, it hardly does anything for her. I would hardly want to be in a relationship with Lena because it seems she drops you like a hot cake when someone new talks to her.

I’m interested to see where this is going to go for book 3. There was a lot of dissent and a lot of fighting that was prompted for the next book, but I’m not sure that its going to be enough to tear down the entire Deliria Free world. I’m also interested to see if there is going to be a flash forward like Suzanne Collins did for Katniss, so we could see what type of an impact that she and the rest of the resisters had on the world and the “cure.”
