I just finished the book and my heart is exploding because of the different feelings this novel has evoked in me. I have never written a review here but this book just pushed me to write one. If you must know, I gave the first book five stars because it was amazing and tragic and it made me cry like hell in the end. (I'm really an emotional person, actually) When I was reading Pandemonium, I honestly didn't know what to expect but I wished and wished and wished that Alex would come back.
What I first really liked about Pandemonium was how it was written. Now and Then. This was a good structure for the novel and I think it contributed to the emotion the story brings.
As I told you before, I really wished Alex would come back but in the middle, when the story revolved around Julian and Lena's relationship, I felt hopeless and eventually gave up about Alex. I still, however, didn't understand the quick connection between Julian and Lena and I was disappointed. I only began to see their relationship in a new light when Lena decided she didn't want the tragedy between her and Alex to happen again, this time, with her and Julian. I admired Lena's character because she has grown strong and determined. Even main characters are usually flawed. Lena, for me, was too fragile. But through this novel, she began to be a powerful heroine. Because of this, I thought, "Oh well. Julian had a good effect on her. I now approve of them together."
And then suddenly, Raven says there's a new boy, a fugitive from Portland. And I knew. I instantly knew it was Alex. I continue reading, my heart beating faster every second, and there in the conclusion of the novel, Alex comes back. My heart aches because I have always loved him. I knew how much Lena loved him too. I knew how hurt she was. And I was finally happy for her, and she was finally about to be happy too- with Julian.
The unexpected turn in the story has left me baffled and hanging on the edge. I should be happy that Alex has returned but I know that his return will only complicate Lena's feelings more. The ending was a definite cliffhanger. Contrary to what others might say, I think a cliffhanger is exactly what makes a good book. If you are left with such shock, with such strong feelings, if you are left longing for more, it only means you are pulled by the story. And I think that's exactly what Pandemonium has done to me.

More like 4.5 but it was really quick read and I enjoyed it
I really enjoyed the second book in this triology and I hoped and wished it wasn't going to fall into the same trilogy/YA trap but it did. My one huge complaint - WHY WHY WHY does every triolgy have to have a love triangle nowadays?!?! This book would have been fine without it. But, that isn't going to stop me from reading the final book because I need to know how it ends.
Even if you didn't LOVE Delirium, I would recommend going ahead and reading this one. I enjoyed it much more than the first in this series and am excited to finish the the final book, Requiem as well as the novellas Oliver has written.
Wasn't a fan of the THEN/NOW shifting at first, but got used to it fairly quickly and made more sense as teh story moved along. Love the details, love the story line, and LOVE the cliffhanger ending (well as much as you can love cliffhanger!). Definitely anxiously awaiting the next book.

Girl, are we really doing this? I love the main character but she can be so stupid sometimes. Book is very good, it kept me reading it whole day. The characters are very well created and unique
