MUCH better than the first book. The characters were more developed. I was actually disappointed with the return of Alex. Typical love triangle, boo. I actually thought by keeping Alex "dead" through this book made for a more realistic story.

I listened to Pandemonium's Audiobook on Scribd (www.scribd.com/g/6klkq2) hence why I finished the first & second book in a jiffy.

THANK GOD for audiobooks since I barely have time to read a physical book nowadays!

The ending of the first book (Delirium) had my heart broke but Pandemonium makes my heart broke into tiny million pieces. It was unexpected and I was shocked. I can't handle my emotion. I didn't cry but I feel numb.

The good thing is that I have the next audiobooks to listen to as soon as I finish the previous book so it was a short cliffhanger.

I would seriously suggest you guys to read/listen to this series IT IS AMAZING!

Ps: Short rant on the audiobook.
What bothered me was that the reader changed how she pronounce Hannah's name.

Delirium: Hannah//Hen-nah
Pandemonium: Hannah//Hon-nah

Yes my review is very general bcs I don't want to spoil any details to anyone who wants to read it!

The sequel to Delirium and I really did like it. It was full of mystery and action.

The chapters alternate between 'then' and 'now', which was hard at first to keep up with but it didn't take long to get the hang of the alternating rhythm. In a way, it shows the progression and growth of Lena as she learns the ways of the Invalids and living in the Wilds. It was almost like Lena was becoming a new person, living a new way of life.

When Julian was first introduced, I didn't much of him but once you get to know him when Lena and him were trapped underground, you really start to understand why he is the way he is and from Lena, he soon sees that the Invalids are not 'bad' as he was taught throughout his life.

I still love Alex and Lena together though, Julian and Lena is kind of cute and I was starting to accept the love interest between but then I came to the ending!

Alex is back and is probably pissed.

So there's going to be some sort of love triangle in Requiem. Who will she choose? It's going to be a very interesting read that's for sure.

4.5 stars/5 stars

OMG talk about twists and turns. I was really annoyed with the starting of this book and thought the whole lot was going down hill from the first book but than all the twists and turns that came up was just amazing. So cant wait til the next book

Delirium was my favorite book of the year back in 2010 when I read it. It surpassed every single other book that I read before it, and honestly I haven’t read a book that made me feel like that since. You know that feeling I’m talking about. It’s what readers live for, right? Being consumed by a story. Living and breathing it in those few hours or days that you are reading it. Books that just blow you away and leave you in awe for days afterward. That was Delirium for me. That’s some back story for you, so that you understand just how much Pandemonium meant to me.

I’m going to start off by saying this is going to be a terribly hard book to review. I don’t want to spoil the first book or this book. So this will probably be vague at best. If you’ve read Delirium you probably have one huge question for Pandemonium. I did. It was something that I needed know. I had hoped and wished and wondered about it often in the year between reading these books. But ultimately I was surprised, but not the way I thought I was going to be. No, I was surprised that when I started this book I stopped wondering. It’s a testament to Lauren Oliver’s writing that she could make me forget about that burning question for awhile. I was so captivated by this new hard and scary world that Lena was living in that Alex became a afterthought. That really, really surprised me.

Don’t get me wrong he was always in my mind, because he was always in Lena’s. Just glimpses and small passages full of such longing and emotion it would bring tears to my eyes. But Lena’s life is very different in this book. She has became hard and so strong. Really this second book was much more about getting to know Lena. And I must say that I love what I saw. She is so complex and well written.

There are some new characters introduced. Some I loved, some infuriated me. All of them were pivotal. Once again Oliver’s writing makes me feel something that I didn’t think was possible. I can’t say what that is, but when you read it you will know.

I’m almost done, I promise! The book is written in a very different kind of format. A Then and Now format. This made the book super intense. There was always some horrifying action happening. It was completely impossible to put down. As far as sequels go this is a incredible one. It’s not at all what I was expecting. It ended up being so much more.

The ending did not destroy me like Delirium‘s, but I might be destroyed a different way. By questions. Lots and lots of questions. There’s also a tiny bit of frustration too. Because that is not how I wanted things to play out, but I’m going to leave it in Lauren Oliver’s capable hands. I trust that she will get us where we need to be in Requiem. Overall, I don’t think I could have asked for a better sequel to a book that I loved beyond measure. Lauren Oliver is a master of her craft.

Delirium is Oliver’s second novel, after Before I Fall, and to me was actually quite frightening.

The story is about a dystopian American continent controlled by the government and the absence of religion. Which I think was quite a courageous topic especially with the American government at this time. It’s almost impossible to describe how enthralled I am with this trilogy.

I’ve shared my copies of the books with one of my friends and managed to convert her to Oliver and her brilliance. I found that Delirium was such a unique theme and title and story and everything. I then found when reading Pandemonium that it was a perfect sequel, unlike how an author has obviously struggled to continue the story, Oliver really knew where she was going with this. Requiem was absolutely outstanding. Everytime I look at my book case I am constantly wishing that there was a fourth, but I’ll have to settle with reading the short stories centered around the main characters instead.

I agree with what Oliver has said on her blog;

“You know, it’s almost unrealistic to tie everything up in a neat bow when you’re dealing with a dystopian society, but since Lena’s journey was about discovering love and that fire to fight for it, as long as she got there, I’m satisfied and am rooting for her to succeed. “

I mentioned to a girl in my local bookshop that I read this trilogy and she suggested that I read the Uglies series by Scott Westerfield, but I am worried that now I’ve loved the Delirium trilogy so much that I won’t be able to get into a similar story.

Does anyone think the Uglies series is much different?

I loved how Lena, the man character, has grown up in this second part of the Delirium series. The ending was a complete shock and I can't wait until 2013 when the next book is out!

WORST CLIFFHANGER EVER.
Now how am I going to wait for Requiem?

FUCKING SON OF A BITCH I KNEEEEW IT
