Overall this books fails to convince me of all the great things Mrs. Post did for NYC and DC. We spend so much time reading about her failed marriages and her lavish life her philanthropic contributions were overshadowed.

I knew nothing about Marjorie Merriweather Post before reading this book. It was fascinating to read about her humble beginnings and the start of Post brands. However, the theme of the book seems to be that money cannot buy happiness. As to be expected, there is a lot of focus on Marjorie's wealth and marital issues. She spends a lot of time amassing real estate and building/decorating her properties...all while getting married and divorced several times. While engaging, this got old for me, and I wish there was more focus on the historical events Marjorie lived through and her contributions to the Post company.
