I was so excited to see that we were going back to Clermont and I was NOT disappointed. Deliciously twisted and oh so wicked, Renee takes us on a wild ride that pits Carson and Allie together that involves a dare and so much more. Carson is hard to like and I am still struggling a bit with him but I can see why he is the hero in this story, or should I say anti-hero?
I am beyond intrigued as to how this is all going to play out because of how it ended. It has such twisted turns that will keep you on your toes and make you question a lot! I love Allie though. She is such a sweet girl that gets caught up in all this but I find she is a little feisty so I don’t think Carson is going to know what hit him! Bring on book two!

This duet follows Carson Hale & Allie Taylor. Allie & Carson were childhood best friends until something sudden happened & ended their friendship. They’ve basically been enemies ever since. In order to push Allie away, Carson is always a jerk to her which didn’t really matter except that now that their best friends are dating, they’re forced to be around each other all the time.

Carson over hears some of his teammates talking about Allie at a party & find out that she’s a part of a bet to make her fall for one of his teammates. Carson can’t stand the thought of anyone else touching Allie so he makes the bet against his teammates & figures if he can get her to spend all of her time with him, he won’t have to worry about his teammates hurting her. Only problem? They’re both still secretly in love with each other. So what happens when things get complicated & Allie finds out about the bet?

I’m not sure why this series isn’t talked about but I definitely think it deserves more hype. Just like the first two books in the series, I don’t think this duet needed to be two separate books — maybe could’ve been combined into one long book. Carson irritated me at first with how mean he was to Allie but after finding out their history, it made sense. I really loved him by the end of the book. He was the definition of possessive

***AVAILABLE NOW***

It is hard to articulate how beautiful Allie and Carson’s romance is, the artful way Holly Renee intertwined this friends to enemies to lovers romance, or the angst and heartbreak she left me in.

From the minute we met Allie and Carson as secondary characters, I was salivating for their romance. Their hate for each other had tension permeating the air, so delicious I could practically taste it and it didn’t disappoint.

What I wasn’t expecting was the tenderness between them? The emotion and care that Carson hid away from Allie, and how Allie was hurt but healing with him.

Being a duet, I knew this cliffhanger would hurt, and it did. Holly filled those final moments with such tenderness and love that when it blew up in their face, my heart shattered with them. The innocence of their younger love, the slow progression to a deeper love, the final moments of where they shared their feelings had my emotions in a tailspin.

This one, Carson and Allie’s love, just about did me in. While Josie and Beck’s story was electric and steamy, this was soul-stirring. The emotion, the heartbreak between them was deep and real. My heart hurts for them, broke with them.

Book 1 of 2.

I received an ARC and this is my first read from this author. I hadn't read the first 2 books in the series but I was able to read this book without any issues.

This book is all about Carson and Allie. They grew up together and were BFFs until one day they weren't. We learn pretty early on that they were both in love with each other in their younger days but when a traumatic experience for Carson makes him realize that Allie wasn't there for him (so he thought) and that he couldn't put any dependence on anyone but himself.

Things change though when Carson finds out there is a bet happening with some of his fellow baseball players. Pick a name from the hat and get the girl you pick to sleep with you before fall break. When Allie's name is picked by someone he doesn't particularly like, Carson will do anything to not let that happen.

The two of them end up with many interactions, both planned and unplanned and they can't help the pull that they both feel, even when fighting their feelings.

I won't spoil it but the cliffhanger made me so mad!! I think what happens in the last 20% of the book should not be what the reaction is at the end of the book. I feel like there is going to be some good groveling in the next book and lots of feelings being shared. I can't wait. Loved the angst! Bring on part 2 (book 4)!!!

I liked how fast paced the story was but also don’t really like how toxic Carson is. At first, I thought I could overlook it but dang it just kept coming. I definitely like the idea of the book but not so much the execution. I’m almost done with the next book as well.

You all know I love me some dirty talkers. Carson is a broken boy who loves to push Allie away. My favorite couple from the series so far.

So I’ve been looking forward to this ever since I finished Josie & Beck’s duet and it did disappoint. I loved the love/hate dynamic of this book and all the back and forth between the 2 main characters.

Allie & Carson were best friends once upon a time until it all changed one evening and Carson cut Allie out of his life. He’s spent the following years being a dick to her as a defence mechanism for how she hurt him. They both harboured secret feelings towards each other but neither did anything about it until it was too late.

I really liked Allie. I felt that there were times that maybe she let Carson in too easily but that was just because she was so desperate for him to be the boy she remembered and when it really counted to she stood up for herself and didn’t let him walk all over her. It broke my heart how vulnerable she felt around him at times and I just wanted to give her a cuddle!

And Carson.. he comes across so arrogant and can say such hurtful things to Allie but again, it’s to hide his feelings of betrayal. He has never got over Allie but he’s so scared of not being good enough for her that he pushes her away at every opportunity.

I really enjoyed this, the moments where they both let down their defences and let the other one in where so sweet and I loved reading them. I can’t wait for the second part of this duet

I knew before heading into this book that it would be an emotional one because in Beck’s story, we saw glimpses of things between Carson and Allie, we just didn’t know the why. Carson lives to make Allie’s world a living hell and he enjoys the pain he causes her. Allie knows why Carson feels this way but to go from being best friends to absolutely nothing hurt her more than any of his words ever would. They both feel wronged in ways they don’t share, and both loved the other but never would say, so they go years of this back-and-forth brewing. After years of torment Allie wants to move on and when she tries Carson is always there to stop it. Now Carson is showing interest and finally starts to open to some extent, but Allie can’t help but to be skeptical. Allie thinks he has something else planned to torment her and while he was honest at first about why he was showing interest, she never believed him. Carson’s intentions were good just misplaced by years of anger built up and even if he was honest that kind of trust doesn’t come back easily. Carson gets Allie to be friends of sorts again, but he is always the one standing in his way because he doesn’t deem himself worthy and refuses to burden Allie with what he can’t give her. They circle each other wanting each other but things are always intervening, and now can they even get back to where they were or are they doomed to be enemies the rest of their lives. My heart hurt for Carson with his family life, but he was worth so much more than he gives himself credit for if only he could stop pretending and go after what he wants. Allie was tired of being his punching bag, but she fell for it again and now they are back at square one. I loved getting to see Carson’s other side he tries to hide by pretending to be something else and their dynamic together was off the charts. This does end of a cliffhanger, and I am dying to see how or if they can get back to where they were honest and open with each other.
