Fuck that last chapter smh

The blurb for A Taste of an Enemy had me at friends turned enemies cause I am an absolute sucker for that shit, and I was not disappointed at all.

Carson and Allie are everything though! The tension and chemistry between them is off the charts, but fuck if that ending didn’t rip out my heart. Their story is so full of angst, heartache, and drama, but god I loved every bit of it and now I’m just over here dying

Please read this and feel my pain, cause I don’t think I can make it until the end of September

Carson and Allie used to be best friends. They would do everything together. Until one night changed it all. Now, they hate each other. What's worse? They are forced to work together and Carson is going to make things very hard for Allie during this time. He is cold and cruel, while still trying to sabotage any chance she may have at a normal dating life. And Allie can't handle the hot and cold. These two will either rip each other apart or tear each other's clothes off and honestly, with these two firecrackers, either one would be entertaining.

This book was perfection. There was angst and bottled emotions. There was pain and heartache and misunderstanding and basically just EVERYTHING you want in a new adult romance. And I am here for it all. I cannot wait for more! Look for the conclusion of Allie and Carson's story on September 23rd!!

The Taste of An Enemy is book #3 in The Boys of Clermont Bay and the start of a new duet; Allie and Carson's story. Allie and Carson have a long history; they may hate each other and can't stand to be in the same room, but you can easily see that they are attracted to each other. I was so curious about Carson and Allie's history, I had so many questions! Why do they hate each other so much? What happened between them? etcetera. I really enjoyed reading Josie and Beck's duet and I was so excited to read The Taste of An Enemy. Although, I haven't read many books by Holly Renee (so far, I've only read three) personally, I find her work enjoyable to read! It's a quick steamy and angsty enemies to lovers romance read.

The hero, Carson can be seen as a careless and carefree playboy, but there is more to him than meets the eyes. And the only person who knows this Allie, after all, once a upon a time they were good friends. Once good friends are now enemies. But now Carson needs or more like wants to be in close proximity with Allie. And it isn't going to be easy, because Allie is skeptical, I mean, I would be too with their history and all. But Carson! He definitely stepped up his game! He really went to all measures to for Allie to spend time with him.  Even after so many years Carson hasn't really forgot about Allie, he knows her so well. When Carson isn't a complete a**hole towards Allie, they get along pretty well. And the chemistry between them is dormant; it's inevitable eventually they do give in. My goodness! These two!  They certainly aren't friends, can be seen as enemies but one thing is for sure, they desperately want each other. And the truth and dare scene! I can easily say that it's one of my favorite parts from this book! The ending though! Looking forward to book #2!

Growing up Carson and Allie were best friends, but after a certain incident caused them to drift apart ending their friendship. And Carson is making sure that it stays that way, by being a complete j*rk and a*shole towards Allie. Carson may hate to admit it, but Allie gets easily under his skin. Because they are in the same circle of friends, its impossible to avoid each other. And whenever they cross paths, well it's not a pleasant encounter. Carson knows how to hurt Allie; his words/insults are sharp as knives hitting its target. I felt bad for Allie about the fact that she blamed herself for how her friendship with Carson ended up badly. Deep down, she misses him and she still loves and cares for him.  Both of them are stubborn characters, and they easily get under each others' skin. Carson may want Allie, but he has certain fears. That's why he has been keeping her at arm's length for so long.

**I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review

I love Holly’s writing, she captivates me from start to end! The taste of an enemy had me hooked from start to finish and it was a page turner! I’ve been needing to know allie and Carson’s story since the touch of a villain and I need the next book ASAP to see how it’s going to end! Allie is a sweet girl next door who is just trying to go to college with good grades and enough money. Carson is the ultimate damaged player of the ladies and baseball. The two used to be best friends and I loved that we got to see what happened and how they ended up enemies. Carson is amazing, I loved him and how playful he is as well as how he’s hot possessive and flirty! Carson and Allie’s banter had me smiling so hard as well as the activities they got up to! I do wish I got a little bit more from Allie, but I’m hoping in the next book to see that and how she handles everything. The build up and angst in this book was *chefs kiss* amazing!

I absolutely LOVE Carson Hale! He is an idiot with zero filter from his brain to his mouth but he is my favorite kind of Hero, touch and handsome on the outside but loving and thoughtful on the inside. The history between Carson and Allie is such a rough and bumpy road but Allie has stayed true to herself and innocent from all the hate spewed at her. I cannot wait to see where the next book takes these 2 because my heart is literally broken from reading that last page!!!

Holly Killed it with Carter and Allie's story. OMG Hands down Carter is my favorite. I loved Beck but Carter hot damn he is perfectly imperfect. I could not put this book down... This is story is everything i could have hoped for, i can not wait until the next one. I NEED more of Carter and Allie! The detailed writing in this story makes you feel like this is really your life and not that of someone else.

This is such an explosive start to Carson and Allie's story already. I know it's going to put my heart on a wringer and I still read the story and the rest of it. The tension, angst, and steam are through the roofs! The back and forth and banter between these two are all-consuming. I can't wait for the second part of their story.
