I was feeling a bit nostalgic about summer reading I did as a kid. I absolutely loved mysteries and my mom had a bunch of Agatha Christie's that I devoured. I had never read this one so was excited to delve in to Ms. Christie and Hercule Poirot again. I enjoyed the book to a point. It's dated which I expected but I felt that the characters were a bit stereotypical. I've been doing a lot of feminist reading and the ending really bothered me. The man tells the woman that he'll marry her but she must give up the business she built herself. And she wouldn't want it any other way. Ugh!

There were quite a lot of characters, which made it hard to keep track of them all. The atmosphere of the summer vacation on the island was pretty well done, not as good as other atmospheric mysteries, but good for the time period. I thought the plot and mystery was very good and I thought the way everything came together was very unique and quite satisfying. I sat and read the book for 3 hours straight because I just needed to know what happened and I had a really good time with it!

I love when I can match the Agatha I’m reading to the current situation, and reading Evil Under The Sun amidst this heatwave was so fun.
I’m embarrassed to admit I didn’t guess this one, which is annoying because it’s a really good reveal that makes a lot of sense. The intricacies of how the crime was committed are also so cool, and Poirot’s final speech made so many things click into place and made for a very satisfying ending.
Also had that classic Agatha reading experience where I thought she was being super misogynistic, but turns out she wasn’t. She gets me everytime lol.
Summery vibes, the setting of the British beach holiday resort was so fun, lots of intrigue.
Just a very good addition to the Agatha/Poirot canon.
