Evil under the Sun

Agatha Christie

As usual, I didn't guess the murderer.

Loved this story, Agatha Christie is pretty amazing.

One of my favourite Christies - nifty puzzle and I like the setting - appeals to the inner romantic child in me, hidden caves and smugglers!

This mystery was not very entertaining, but Christie's exploration of morality, vanity, and how one's character may not acoird with one's outward appearance makes this novel compelling and worth reading. I certainly need to re-read this book to unpack its meaning.

Arlena Marshall doesn't care what other women think of her. She only cares about what the men around her think. She is danger personified, or is she the epitome of victim? Poirot sees trouble when he sees her, but all he can do is watch it play out and then pick up the pieces.

Christie is one of my favourite authors and her works are definitely mood changers. I wonder why Poirot has to deal with murders everytime he went on holidays? Is he cursed? Like c'mon, let him rest for some time! Poor old Poirot!

Set by a seaside, this murder mystery involves a lot of suspects, mostly women. Beautiful Arlena Stuart was hated by almost everyone and they have clear motives to kill her. It was quite puzzling and I loved the religious fanatic part! We all try to figure out the murderer, but people, let me remind you, it's not as easy as you think.

It was a satisfying read and you should know that it mitigated by sporadic reading slump! But it's not one of Christie's best works I think, Evil Under the Sun is a kind of story that keeps you thrilled to the very end and fade away from your mind after you finish it. It can't be included in my top 10 Christie list, but totally recommend to a beginner as it's not a disappointing read.

I have really enjoyed my journey through Agatha Christie’s mysteries once again. Her books take me back to my teenage years when I first discovered her stories- I devoured all her books and have read them many times through the years. This year I chose to revisit the Hercule Poirot books, as he was always a favourite character of mine. I love his personality and the way Ms. Christie was able to bring him, and all his little quirks to life.
Even though these books were written so long ago, they are still written so well, the mystery and suspense so cleverly woven, that they remain very intriguing reads still to this day. And, even though my reading tastes have matured and evolved over the years, I can always count on a great reading experience whenever I revisit any of Ms. Christie’s work- I still enjoy them, as much as I did the first time. Classic mystery, well done!

I knew what was important! But I didn't have a clue as to how it fit in to the story. Yet another great mystery from Christie that I loved.

Está bueno, cada tanto, leer un nuevo caso de Poirot.

Once again a good story, but it did not stand out for me. I think there was a similar story previously, but I was not able to tell who did the murder until the end.
