Mein erster Agatha Christie. Meine Schwester meint, dass er sogar verfilmt wurde. Wie dem auch sei, ich habe nur das Buch gelesen und es passt sehr in die Zeit in der es veröffentlicht wurde. Man bekommt mit wie Menschen damals gedacht und gehandelt was mir sehr gefallen hat.
Die dritte Personsicht ermöglicht Szenarien zu erleben die Hercule Poirot (Protagonist/berühmter Privatdetektiv) nicht erlebt, wodurch der Leser ein scheinbar runderes Bild erhält. Aber man entgeht dadurch auch die Gedankengänge vom Detektiv.
Mir gefiel auch, dass Hercule Poirot so gut mit der hiesigen Polizei gearbeitet hat.
Als Leser bekommt man viele mögliche Täter präsentiert und man ist eifrig am Miträtseln und ist am Ende doch überrascht.
Einzig die allerletzte Szene hat mir nicht gefallen, da eine Person, die etwas für die Zeit außergewöhnliches erreicht hat, es einfach aufgibt, was ich nicht ganz nachvollziehen kann, aber wieder wohl mit der Zeit zu tun hat.

Another win for Agatha Christie! Such an amazing plot line - red herrings all around and I never did figure it out before the big reveal. If you are looking for a Christie/Poirot book to read, either as a first-timer or as a seasoned Christie reader, this one is well worth your time.

as always, a great story with a great mystery and a shocking reveal (which felt more sudden than her usual reveals though and made it a little less exciting for me). the last page was kind of a turn off though. I do not expect a lot of feminism from agatha christie but sometimes I do just wish for slightly better written female characters
As I already said in some of my other reviews of Agatha Christie books, I'm nor really a fan of her works. I like some of them, while the others I find quite boring. And her style of writing is not really my cup of tea. But I always enjoy a good mystery and she is a queen of suspense after all.

And even though [b:Murder at the Vicarage|16331|Murder at the Vicarage (Miss Marple #1)|Agatha Christie|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1388386575s/16331.jpg|2589654] is more like a cozy mystery and this is not my favourite genre of mystery, I liked it more than Evil Under the Sun.
Evil Under the Sun is a book in Hercule Poirot series. Poirot can be annoying from time to time, but fortunately this is not a case in this book. And this is a very Poirot-ish book and very typical for Agatha Christie. The whole story is build in the distinguish style of this author which can be found in many others of her books. The murder is committed on the isolated island with small group of suspects who in the beginning all look innocent and further in the story all look suspicious. The police questions person after person and in the end some apparently unconnected events and things lead Hercule Poirot to a brilliant explanation of the whole matter. Quite familiar scheme.
It does not change the fact that it is a very entertaining read with a pretty well-written suspense. And my 4 stars given to this book are there to prove it. Still, I have to admit that the explanation and the whole story behind the murder is totally improbable, even for Agatha Christie. And, after giving it a second though, I would point at it as the weakest part of the story.
Still, this is one of the best books by Agatha Christie, absolutely worth your time.

I read this with @boundbycrime for the #readChristie2021 challenge hosted by @officialagathachristie. The prompt was “a story set by the seaside.” I am a sucker for those “locked room” mysteries! EVIL UNDER THE SUN is pretty fast paced with action on almost every page. There’s never a dull moment when Poirot is around. This book is full of twists and suspicious characters. I truly had no clue whodunnit until Poirot throughly explained his theory at the end. I’d actually have to say this is my favorite Poirot book, yet. It definitely makes it to the top five Agatha Christie books!

Dieses Juwel hier war definitiv eines meiner liebsten Werke von Agatha Christie, einfach weil es so komplex und detailliert war und ich mich trotz Vorsicht mal wieder habe verunsichern lassen. Außerdem hatte ich genug Zeit, es hintereinanderweg zu lesen, ohne Unterbrechungen, wodurch ich so gepackt wurde, dass ich nicht aufhören konnte.
Poirot war mal wieder so witzig und sympathisch wie eh und je, aber auch die anderen Charaktere waren ausgeklügelt. Außerdem muss ich ein großes Kompliment über den Aufbau der Geschichte machen - denn der war genau richtig, um miträtseln zu können.
