This author is hilarious!! I loved the romance plot a TON. It was creative. Plus I was laughing out loud an absurd amount of times while reading this.

There is a reason Eliza Herman hasn’t taken up her rightful place as a Descendant of Eros and gone into the family business and it’s not only because she doesn’t particularly believe in the capital-L Love; it’s also that she believes she’s the worst Cupid ever born to this Earth. Disaster seems to strike whenever she tries to cast an enchantment on someone.

But when the family needs her to step in after her father falls ill, Eliza is prepared to help out. To do that, though, she has to re-apply for her cupid license and as luck would have it, Eliza’s mentor is none other than her childhood crush Jake Sanders. After Jake is accidentally enchanted by Eliza, they set ground rules to keep the attraction at bay until it wears off after the full moon.

But when ALL of Eliza’s enchantments start to backfire, and couples end up hating one another, Eliza and Jake will have to work together to set things right. Along the way, they’ll learn that sometimes rules are meat to be broken.

I really enjoyed the world that Amanda Heger has created. A world with Descendants—those whose lineage can be traced back to one of the original gods (i.e. Athena, Eros, Apollo, etc.), but Erosians (aka Cupids) are the only ones that have revealed themselves to the public as a whole and have subsequently built their livelihoods upon matching people together. Amanda Heger brings modern-day grievances into the cupids’ lives as they have to compete with the ever-growing field of technology overshadowing the more traditional ways to pair people together—such as the bow and arrow approach.

Unfortunately, there was a lot thrown at the reader in this first installment regarding the history of Descendants. We have to understand the job of cupids within the modern society as well as their almost ostracization by other Descendants due to the fact that they outed themselves. All this coupled with Eliza’s overarching storyline is a lot to take in on a first book.

Fortunately, my interest has been piqued and I look forward to seeing which avenue Amanda Heger takes with the story next. Will she continue featuring cupids or will we follow a different Descendant? The possibilities are plentiful for sure.

I think it also helps that I liked Eliza so much. Even with things going crazy around her, you can clearly see her kind-heartedness and her willingness to not give up. Supporting a family who has not always been supportive of her “short comings.” Her insecurities were relatable, but clearly keeping her from seeing her true power which runs parallel to her long-held feelings for Jake and vice versa.

Crazy Cupid Love was a quirky, fun, light read on par with Molly Harper’s Half-Moon Hollow series. I feel like it’s been awhile since I’ve read a light-hearted romance with paranormal elements and Crazy Cupid Love was a much-needed change of pace.

This book? So wonderfully weird. I am a fan. In college I majored in classical languages and civilizations, and Greek/Roman mythology was a pretty big part of that. Literally anytime I find a fun, modern spin on the classical mythology, you can bet I'm reading. And just like I loved the Percy Jackson series, I loved this book.
Almost all the characters were dorky and amusing in their own way. Sometimes bordering into absurd and a bit of a caricature, but all of them were still fun.
Eliza was a really well meaning clutz, Jake was a sweet and handsome dork. Everyone had their quirks, which made for an entertaining read.
It was a really interesting take on bringing mythology into the modern day. I wasn't sure if it was going to work out without being completely ridiculous. And even though it was quite silly, it worked really nicely.
The first three-quarters of the book is mainly low-stakes action. Then there is a ton of action, mostly high-stakes, all packed into about 50 pages. And then everything is resolved. It felt a bit abrupt, but not so much as to detract from enjoying the story.
For fans of Greek mythology, I would definitely recommend this book!

“Over the years, in her attempt to live a ‘normal’ life, she’d constructed an intricate maze of rules and guidelines that she followed at all times. Number one on that list? Stay away from hot guys. On a good day, her clumsiness hit a six on the Richter scale. Add the fumbling, sweaty awkwardness of attraction to the mix, and Eliza became a walking catastrophe.”

A delightful, witty, funny, steamy mystery meets rom-com meets mythology with a modern twist. Great characters and fantastically written; I couldn’t put it down!

Eliza is absolutely hilarious. Not only is she deemed “the worst cupid ever” but she doesn’t even believe in capital-L Love. But when she’s the only one that can save her family’s business this clumsy cupid is going to have to work with her recently returned childhood crush, newly minted mentor and fellow Erosian, Jake. When all her enchantments start to go awry, Eliza starts to uncover a conspiracy against all cupids—can she stop it in time?

This clumsy cupid is going to learn that she’s more powerful than anyone realized, and maybe, just maybe capital-L Love really does exist.

“. . . if you’ll give me a chance, Eliza, I want to prove to you that capital-L Love is real.”

I picked up a copy of this book due to the premise. It sounded good and I was ready for a light hearted, funny read. Well the light hearted part was correct but the humor was missing.

Eliza is a klutz. I kind of felt bad for her. She had a lot to prove with her family history. Eliza tried her hardest to show she could be a good cupid even if at first she was resistant to the idea. Although, I could understand where she was coming from. Her mother was mean towards Eliza and had no faith in her.

In regards, to the love interest Jake; I thought he was alright. He at least tried to bring some humor to the story. Again, my major disappointment is the fact that I wanted humor and didn't get it. Additionally, the characters were "so, so". The storyline felt like it was lacking in substance. A nice idea that didn't fully execute all the way.

NOTE: I received a complimentary eARC of this book from Sourcebooks Casablanca through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I really thought I was going to like this book. The premise sounded interesting and like nothing I’d read before, and there were some really good sections of the the story but sadly it fell a little short for me. It was ok, but not something I would recommend to friends unfortunately.

**WARNING - SPOILERS AHEAD**

It was quirky and fun but it was very strangely paced, to the point were halfway through I almost thought it was over until I looked how far through I was and realise I was only at 53%. This weird pacing and often too-slow sections left me not really interested in sitting down for long reading sessions like I normally do. I usually found myself reading a chapter and then putting my Kindle down to go find something more interesting to do.

It also didn’t help that the characters were just kind of blah. I wasn’t able to really connect with any of them because they all felt very similar, with the exception of Eliza, who was so annoyingly self-centered and mopey that I found myself not liking her by the end. I don’t think that’s what the author intended but there were several times where I found myself wanting to shake her and tell her to stop complaining and think about someone other than herself for once.

Over all this one just wasn’t as good as I was hoping it would be and while there were some parts that were funny and interesting, the majority of it was just ok.

This was a super fun paranormal romance that has a reluctant cupid returning home to help her family business and getting wrapped up in figuring out why her matches are all of a sudden going disastrously wrong. Perfect for fans of authors like Christi Barth or April Asher. I picked this up on a whim for Valentine's day and really enjoyed it on audio. Includes some open door spicy scenes!

Eliza Herman is a Cupid - you read that right. Descendants live among us, and Cupids have technology to help move things along these days. But Eliza is a disaster at being a Cupid... she's kind of a disaster at most things, actually. She manages to enchant people just by bumping them, and she's a bit of a klutz. But when her father falls ill and her brother has a business trip he can't cancel, she finds herself helping out with the family business. And she may not be so bad at it after all! Now, if she and her sexy childhood best friend, Jake, can navigate Eliza through the process of becoming a fully licensed Cupid without any problems, Eliza may be able to help save the family business after all.

This is adorably light, fun, and sexy as all get-out. I loved the world-building, where we get a peek into how all the Greek Descendants live and work among us (and I loved that a former Fury is a librarian). Eliza is a likable heroine, and the mystery twist is wonderful! Absolute fun for a beach read and a night table fixture. More Crazy Cupid Tales, please!
