It’s an ok mystery, a decent sci-fi, and a full romance. Kind of forgettable for me though with some cool concepts. I just never really bonded with any characters.

A lighthearted sci fi mystery. I really enjoyed the setting, which evoked the 1800s (railcars, telegrams, universities) in a scifi setting (200+ years on Jupiter). The writing style took me a while to get into. Mossa and Pleiti are a delight.

I kinda want to read it again. This has made me want to read more by the author, and be more open to books like this. It's thoughtful, emotional, well written....yeah. Lots of good stuff. So much to appreciate. For the length I did not feel like anything was shallow or underdeveloped, it was not like some novellas that make you wish they were longer. This was impactful and as long as it needed to be. It is worth reading, definitely one to try if you get the chance.

An intriguing mystery, a super cool setting, fun characters—but I found myself always slightly aggravated by the narrative style. The character speaks and thinks in an exaggerated, stuffy near-parody of an academic (someone steeped in vocational awe and their own self-importance as demonstrated through vocabulary) and it became a little tiresome.

Still really fun, though. I’d give another one a shot.
