These stories range in the amount of believability, but didn't stretch credibility nearly as much as those about Thornly Colton, another famous blind detective from around the same time period. There are still going to be some things that make you raise your eyebrows and think, "Really?"

The stories are uneven in their plotting, too, with some fairly obvious and others quite devious. One thing that I enjoyed was that Carrados is very human, and not quite as icy as Colton; it was easy to believe that he'd have friends and interests. If you're a fan of Golden Age mystery fiction, you'll probably enjoy these stories, as well.
