This book reads like a murder drama Netflix show.

While it was certainly a page turner, I can't say I particularly liked it. This book uses every possible opportunity to insert drama into the plot to an absurd degree. The characters are melodramatic and at times unbelievable. The amount of trigger warnings needed for this book also seems like it just unnecessarily alienates a lot of readers.

The twist at the end really ran me ragged. Books that divide your life into a before and after.

Righ in the middle. Not bad, not great. Guessed the ending from very early on, but the journey wasn’t in vain just because I already knew.

Gillian Flynn's 'Sharp Objects' is an absolute masterpiece of psychological thriller literature. From the moment I delved into its pages, I was entranced by Flynn's dark and haunting narrative, and I couldn't put the book down until I'd devoured every chilling word.
Flynn's storytelling is nothing short of brilliant. She weaves an intricate web of mystery and intrigue, and her ability to create an atmosphere of palpable tension is second to none. As I followed Camille Preaker, the deeply flawed yet utterly captivating protagonist, through the twisted secrets of Wind Gap, Missouri, I found myself completely immersed in the unsettling world she inhabits.
The characters in 'Sharp Objects' are as complex as they come. Each one is etched with such depth and realism that they leap off the page. Camille's internal struggles and her tumultuous relationship with her family are portrayed with a raw honesty that is both unsettling and profoundly relatable.
What truly sets this book apart is Flynn's skill at exploring the darkest corners of the human psyche. Her exploration of trauma, self-harm, and the impact of family dynamics is unflinching and thought-provoking. The psychological suspense she crafts keeps you on edge until the very last page.
Furthermore, the narrative is riddled with shocking twists and turns that left me reeling. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, Flynn would drop another bombshell that left me gasping in disbelief.
'Sharp Objects' is not merely a thriller; it's a work of art that delves deep into the complexities of the human soul. It's a book that lingers in your thoughts long after you've turned the final page. If you're a fan of psychological thrillers that push the boundaries of the genre and leave you questioning everything, then 'Sharp Objects' is an absolute must-read. Gillian Flynn has firmly established herself as a master of her craft, and this book is a testament to her storytelling prowess.
